In proper suburb ettiquette I'm handing out candy. It's been about 20 minutes and half the shit is gone and the kids are now on half/ration and because their greetings are ungracious.
I haven't seen one fucking robot yet.
I got 3 pumpkins and all the lights are on so I'm advertising I got lots of candy.
I've been keeping an eye on the turn your mask inside out and go back in line scam.

I'm getting tired of this. There's gotta be something in it for me.
I'm contemplating opening the blinds, turning on every light, pulling the candy table in plain sight in front of the window, grab a chair, start eating all the candy while making full eye contact and disregarding their knocking and ringing.

I just went to cvs to get candy; they packed away all the halloween candy
and started displaying chrismas candy.
instead of handing out candy canes I decided to turn off my lights and pretend I'm
not home

with the way the economy is you would think parents would be forcing their kids out to get free candy

I just realized I'm handing out too much candy when one of the kids, not a neighborhood kid, told his brother "We should have come around here first, look at all this"!
I bought mostly candy I like so there has to be some leftovers...:innocent:

We've had a bunch of kids in our buildiing so far. The front desk creates a list of all the apartments participating, so the kids know where to stop (in NYC, trick-or-treaters aren't the norm. Kids mostly hit the local businesses for candy). This is pretty cool, considering in our old apartment, we went 7 years without one trick-or-treater.

i think the people here in the building i live in have a code... decorations means trick or treaters welcome. i usually decorate my door every year... this is the first time ive had candy to give (i usually forget)

they last about 4-7 months... unless you have good and plentys and other similar candies... then you only have 2 months

I always buy way too much. When I hit the supermarket just before Halloween, I grab bag after bag. There may be a dozen different brands of candy in my kitchen right now. But I also let kids take as much as they want. The problem is that so far outside of a couple of hoodlums too old to participate, every kid has been under the age of 4, and they only go for the tiny tootsie rolls. I'm going to be stuck with way too much of this shit.
The last family to show up had a Vikings cheerleader, a Packers player, and a dad wearing stupid Cowboys shit. How does that happen? At least the mom was hot.

nah... actually, i asked them that why is it that none of the kids want to dress up... i did yell at the mom for not getting them some kind of halloween bag or mask. the kids (teen-ish girls) had wrinkled Gap bags. again depressing...

What is wrong with kids these days? I just had six or seven high school kids show up, and since I have so much leftover candy I told them to take as much as they wanted. One kid took two things; the rest still took one each. Why are they even bothering?

i am still hiding under my covers sucking down theraflu.
both my neighbors and myself left candy on the porch with notes saying to take some.
i pray there is none left when i go out to check.
EDIT: my neighbors were nice enough to put my happily empty candy-holding pumpkin outside my apartment door. i always buy the good candy so it usually gets snatched up. last year they even took my plastic couldron. haha. i am just glad to not have leftovers.
feast, young heathens!!

I did that the first two years we lived at our house. Julia would take the kids to the McMansion development for the big candy bars. I would sit on the porch with a bowl of Snickers bars. We live on a busy street of Northfield, so not much foot traffic.
But I got the feeling the second year, shouting for the kids to "come and get some candy" was way over the top creepy, and now we just leave the porchlight off and go together with the kids.

If you want to hand out candy on Halloween you should buy a house in Yonkers where the kids still seem to have a sense of entitlement. Last year I bought about 10 lbs. of empty calories and still wound up writing checks to the stragglers at the end of the night. This year I bought 15 lbs. and still have a little bit left but I did supplement it with the contents of my spare change jar.
Monday morning I figure I'll get even by snapping up stocks in pharma companies that sell diabetes drugs.
