View Full Version : All Clad Salt Pitting
Me and my chick just got a bunch of nice All-Clad Pots and Pans (stainless steel). One of the saucepans got white salt marks on the bottom and up the sides. I know they tell you not to add salt until the food starts cooking so I followed their advice.
Did anyone else have this happen? Anyone know how to get rid of the 'stains'?

I have brand-new Emerilware pots and pans, also stainless. (They are also manufactured by All-Clad.)
I've been happily cooking in them all week and haven't noted any discolorations, although I think that my nylon brush may have scratched them a bit.
What kind of food were you cooking that you seasoned it in the pan? (I usually season meats before I put them into the pan and let the salt sit for a smidge before I start cooking it. It draws some of the moisture up to the surface and encourages a Maillard reaction.)

the bad news is, i think you're stuck but the good news is it wont affect the outstanding performance of your cookware. the only thing i can suggest is barkeepers friend which is the best miracle worker out there. otherwise, sorry charlie.

Buy new pans too look good then use those to cook with.
Or you can use steel wool. I have a calphalon pan at home and steel wool the shit out of the inside. I like it to look good too but its purpose really is cooking. But i also used to be a cook.
