christ, there's hundreds, if not thousands, of bands with stupid names that I just won't check out because of their name, and most of them seem to be corporate indie rock bands. Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs...and just about any faggoty band that's just the same word repeated twice, any band with the word "wolf" in their name (except for Wolf Eyes, even though I'm not even that huge of a fan of theirs)...

yet at the same time, my ipod is full of bands with stupid names (Men's Recovery Project, Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine, Towel, SunnO))), Rwake, Nig Heist, Eyehategod, etc)

I like what I like & I'm a closed minded music snob who reads books by their covers.

If you think about it, pretty much any band name is some degree of awful/stupid/pretentious/etc.. I don't mock their name until after I find out they suck, because it makes them that much more mockable.

I have an odd hatred for acts these days that are just one guy's name. Like, I hate Jason Mraz enough as it is for his shitty name and terrible, terrible soft music, but he can't think of anything better than just going by his name? Same with John Mayer...and they're usually alone in their videos, too. All it makes me think is that these guys are such assholes that they can't make any friends and even just form a band to think up a name for.

Guess this applies for my namesake, too, though he always seemed pretty douche-y.

I've alwas found the biggest conentration of shitty bad names in American 3rd wave ska and beyond, given how they try to cram the word "ska" into the name as much as possible.
