I have an old windows HP/Compaq nx9010 that conked out. I tried a few different versions of Linux to resurrect this beast but only PCLinuxOS would work on the chip config. This version of Linux does not include Gimp, and Gimp.org does not seem to have a version that will work with this version of Linux.

I run Gimp under Ubuntu on a different computer just fine. Anyone have any suggestions? I realize this HP is lucky to still be alive, but pclinuxos works well on it, I just need my gimp!

I really want to take this old computer on my trip rather than my main machine. I want to force myself to use this HP for two weeks rather than my usual XP/Ubuntu box since I don't care if this one gets lost or damaged.

Maybe I am a bonehead but any help with Gimp is appreciated.

Thanks!

I think he was stating that his gimp hasn't been working on any other distro of linux other than the pclinux or whatever it was...

I know ubuntu and debian run it fine.

Yeah. I have no problems on ubuntu, check my sig. I think he's having some sort of configuration problem, which we could probably figure out if we new where to start.
