What I havent been able to decide is if I want to make some kind of yellow rice with it or garlic mashed potatoes.
I come here when i cant decide this nonsense shit myself, so help me. Im making it sometime around1pm tomorrow since im off and gonna be lazy.

Go for the rice. The mass of the potatoes can detract from the steak, in my opinion. And since you're going to be lazy, get some Zatarains rice. It's easy as shit, and quite good.

garlic mashed and steamed broccoli. i don't think there is a better meal than a filet with those two sides.

in this case it was, though i cant lie, sometimes i dont mind them. Just to know they are unhealthy compared to what they should be. Plus something about preservatives rule.
but fuck no, i would not make canned vegetables with a filet. Im not a savage

Seems to me the only choice to go with that cut of meat is a baked potato w/ sour cream and chives.

A few questions will help clarify things:
Are you eating by yourself?
If not, are you trying to impress the person/people you're dining with?
Any occasion?

I would do some sort of mashed or if you want to do a little more work home fried potatoes with nice onion frizzles. The vegetable should be a nice side of grilled asparagas

I don't. Asparagus is out of season (even 2nd season is out of season) and is foul when it's not at its peak.
When I made filet, back in the spring (at the peak of 1st season asparagus) I served it with mashed potatoes and asparagus.
If I were to do it now, I would go with steamed broccoli and oven-roasted potatoes.

I love sweet potatoe fries with my steak. I use a pizza stone and bake sweet potatoe wedges on the stone in the oven.

Broccoli Rabe (boil it first, then sautee with garlic and olive oil), potatoes au gratin, and applesauce with cinnamon.
Fuckin starvin'
Edit: I originally said garlic mashed potatoes, but that's too much garlic.

Wrap that filet mignon in some bacon. Serve it with a heaping pile of baked potato wedges (drizzled in olived oil with rosemary). I also vote for some sauteed broccoli rabe.
