After today's show, I looked at my cable box for the time, and noticed it was flashing "Please Call Your Operator". Huh, I said. I know I just paid the bill, wtf?

Long story short, after a brief call to Time Warner, it was decided a technician has to come to my apartment in 2 days... TWO DAYS??!!!!

After the brief panic, I realized that I dont reeeeally watch alotta tv; I use my internet for the good stuff, and in the next 2 days, I dont have anything amazing to miss that I cant catch up on later. I put down the phone, and immediately started cleaning my apartment and unpacking left over boxes from my move.

The purpose of my post is... what in your life, when told you'd have to do without for a few days, would you initially panic, but soon realize you dont really use it/need it that much?

Seriously though. I don't even have cable. It would be somewhat nice to have but I D/L everything and can watch it off my DVD player like it was TV. so everything is free except the internet. Which is only 40.

I watched so little tv I had my directv cut about a year ago. I miss football and thought I would miss tv news (such as it is especially during this rotten campaign) but I found I don't really.

I can usually see anything I need online and I have become a big fan of online radio, besides XM. I have caught up on a lot of reading and since I work from home I have been more aggressive in expanding my business.

I know most people don't believe it but I like not having television.

Yeah, we tried that over the phone, the cable lady and me. And I've tried it every day a few times since. It always goes back to call your operator. It's definitely the box since my roadrunner which comes thru the same cable line works just fine.

And Canelupo, I envy you. When I first moved to manhattan, I told myself I was only gonna get basic cable, since my real entertainment would be manhattan itself. But when I mentioned that, they offered me 3 free months of hbo n showtime if I kept my same package. Now I've gotten used to coming in from wherever, and turning on the boob tube.

We were actually having trouble with our HiDef satellite and DirecTV called us and said--we notice you've been having trouble with the signal and sent someone out to fix it. No more problems with the signal.

If it's positioned properly i've had satellite that stayed on during a hurricane (until the actual power went out, of course).

i now pay over 100 bucks and it'll be more when my "deal" runs out

Well, he showed up shortly after my last post.

Turns out my cable box is designed specifically for Queens, so at the end of the billing cycle, it couldnt get any more info from Queens and read that my account was cancelled when it wasnt. Or some such. Anyway, gotta brand new fancy Manhattan box, and all is well.

It even seems to have fixed a small problem I was having with HD channels. Nice.

Anywho...when I said "I dont have any money for your tip" he said, "just take off your uniform and I'll take just the tip I need" then the neighbor started playing some bad bass guitar, and before ya know it, the place smelled like clorox.

End of crisis.
