S.D. Jones, a prelim wrestler for decades dating back to the World Wide Wrestling Federation days, passed away yesterday in Antigua after suffering a stroke this past week.
Jones was 63. He most recently appeared with WWE inducting Tony Atlas into the company's Hall of Fame.
Jones was probably the most popular of the regular enhancement talent during the 70s and early 80s before the company went national, billed as "Philadelphia's favorite son."

I always liked SD Jones. Good wrestler. Maybe he should have been a little bigger.

This really makes me sad. Loved when he got his shine teaming with Andre the Giant from time to time. And he really was from Antigua!

That sucks. SD Jones was classic. He & his trademark finger gunshot when announced will be missed.

Damn, what a huge bummer. I remember watching S.D. when I was a kid; my buddy Kris would always want to be Special Delivery Jones when we fake wrestled at recess. What a great name and a solid wrestler.
Rest well Sir, rest well. :glurps:
SD used to "date" the woman at the end of my grandfather's block. He would show up, send her kids out with money to buy all the kids on the block ice cream and pizza. When he'd come back out a few hours later, he'd hang out with us for a bit, he was always cool.

Text from my friend after I sent him the news:
"Truly a sad day. I'm making a little gunshot motion with my hand in tribute."

This is just awful..
He lived in my neighborhood in the Bronx and he was the nicest guy you could ever meet..
At the height of his career he saw me waiting for the BX41 bus in my baseball uniform so being the gentleman that he was he asked me if I needed a ride to my game..
He and his wife not only drove me to my game but he sat through the whole thing and drove me home afterwards..What a sweetheart of a man..
Lots of coke, lots of females and lots of class, that's how I'll remember one of my childhood heros, SD "Special Delivery" Jones..
May he forever Rest in peace..

RIP SD.
2 memories:
Jobbing to King Kong Bundy in like 10 seconds at Wrestlemania.
Tagging with Andre when Studd and Patera cut Andre's hair.

The commentary on this with Jesse, Gorila and actually the usually awful Superstar Billy Graham is terrific on this!
