Reports say band are close to reunion deal

Speculation has renewed that The Smiths may be on the verge of reforming.

According to a report in The Sun today (October 24), the four original members are close to signing a deal that would see them performing at the Coachella festival in California next year.

It is suggested that Morrissey's new manager - former MCA records boss Irving Azoff - has been instrumental in the proposed deal.

A source is quoted as saying: "It has looked impossible in the past but suddenly it all looks like it could happen. The buzz around the people who used to work for the band is they could play Coachella for a ludicrous amount of money.

"It's closer than it's ever been. The split was a messy affair, but time's a healer."

If it's true, the money they're being offered must be bonkers. I've read about numerous offers in the past that were huge and someone in the group still turned it down, like $10 million for them to reunite and play a single show and still one of them said no.

Actually, no. Morrissey is sounding worse and worse with each year. I think he's too old and fat to pull off a lot of the older songs...kinda like Axl huffing and puffing running around the stage.
