As much time as I spend on my computer, there are still some seemingly basic things I don't know how to do.
I am at work and I want to copy a disk of PDF files to a blank disk.
There are ALOT of files.
How do I do this? I only have one CD drive.
Please help!
Grassyass in advance. :)

Hi Frideeee ... if you have a program (like Roxio) installed most will allow you to copy from one CD to another with out 2 drives by selecting the Copy Disc option. It will ask you for your source CD, copy the files to a temp folder, then ask you to insert a blank CD, then write it.
Or you could also put in the CD with the files, copy them to your dekstop, then make a new CD and burn the files. Either way should work for you. Good luck.
Edit: I am assuming your 1 drive is capable of burning CD's
sure now you need the geek's help. I'll bet that in high school, you wouldn't even give them the time of day.
you say you only have one cd drive. you do know you are going to need a cd burner, right ?

This is assuming you have a Cd burner and by disk you mean CD.
Take the cd that has the files on it and place it into the retractable cup holder.
Push the cup holder in. Then bring it up on windows explorer.
With only having one drive will make this time consuming. You will then have to copy those files onto the Harddrive somewhere easy.
What I would recommend is to Make a new folder on your desktop.
(right click on desktop, then select new, then new folder.) Name it w/e you like.
then open that folder. then select all the stuff from the cd window and drag it into the new folder window. That stuff will be a bit to transfer. Hopefully you have at least 700mb of free space as well.
Then after that completes you can take that cd out and put the new one in there.
Then open windows explorer and open the cd in a new window. Then click and drag the files from the new folder that you made WITH the new files and then drag those onto that cd.
and now youll have to wait for that.
Then after it finishes take the CD out.
Then place it back in. Then try to open those folder.
Also what you might want to invest in is a flash drive. a 1gb is pretty cheap nowadays.

Thats all I got with computers, If that doesn't work I hire some guy @ 85 hour who tells me I fucked things up royally by not backing up often enough. Then I go to the dell website and order a new computer. It says the computer is $399. I go through a bunch of screens and of course I want one of each thing they offer.Video accelerator? No idea waht that is but I better get one right. Somehow the computer is now 3999. It costs 150 dollars to have it delivered the next day because everyone knows I have to post important thoughts on ronfez.net.
Wait what was the question again?

Will you have to be moving files around a lot? If so, I'd pick up a USB drive. You should be able to find 8 gigs for well under $50, and 4 for like $20.

Oh, sorry man. In my defense, I can say I was reading this thread on my iPhone and it was in really small letters. My apologies.
But we're obviously on the same page here: if you're going to be tranferring files a lot, a USB drive is a far better, cheaper, and easier way to do it than constantly burning CD's. Of course, if you need permanent backup, CD's are still the way to go.

Get yourself a free trial copy of Cheetaburner at download.com and burn those bad boys to a DVD disc (only about a buck each). You can get 4.7GB on them if you have a LOT of files. Otherwise a 700MB CD should work fine and when you put the blank in the drive windows will ask you if you want to create a writable file among other options. Its easy-cheesy.

Roxio is a piece of shit. You also need to pay for it, which is useless considering how much great free software is out there.

CDBurnerXP. Completely free burner for Windows. I switched to it from Nero a year or so ago and never looked back.
