well, i am moving on 11/22.
we have not found a house yet, but are actively searching. this is ok, cause we can shack up with my parents for a month or 2 until we can purchase and close on a house.
i have quite a few big pieces that will easily fit into an 8x8x16 POD. we are thinking of loading up a pod, having them store it, and then redeliver it to our new house when we finish painting / repairing / etc.
any one else ever use PODS ? good or bad experience?

You should ask Alkey and Silera I know they used one and had a good experience.

PODS are the way to go if your moving out but not moving right in.
A friend used them and it was perfect for them:thumbup:
Good luck new or old house?

i love moving
i moved out of my place in tahoe in an hour
the trick is to pack without caring what stuff goes in
stop organizing
it all goes to the same place
speed and swiftness is the key

Pods are OK, but I would also researching renting at a 1st floor car-access storage unit. You may find that you'll save money on that over a pod. It's ease vs. cost in this case.

we did.
a pod is $217 to drop off and then haul away to their storage, at $191 / month, and $110 to drop off / haul away empty
a storage room is approx $247, no guarantee that its car access (this was for 10x20), although i find it hard to believe that would be on a 2nd level.
With storage, i would have to move my stuff TO storage, and then FROM storage to new place. With Pod, i simply load into pod and then unload from pod when delivered to new residence.
while i can move everything in my element, it would take several trips to do so; factor in gas, and time as well.

well, we went with 1-800-PackRat.
to drop off the 10x16 pod and bring it back to ther temp controlled whse, its $189.
its $149 per month, and $110 to drop the full pod off at the new house, and haul it away when we are done.
far cheaper than PODS(r). We also had a promo coupon from valpack for like a free bundle of moving boxes, which we were able to upgrade to wardrobe closets.
so, we are now set.

Good luck on your move. Enjoy living out of boxes for a few weeks.
We're actually going floor-by-floor to get the house operational. The first floor is almost done, just two more floors to go.

we are going to do exactly what we did moving in.
we will be staying with my parents from closing time until we purchase something.
once we buy and close on that, we will spackle/paint/do whatever to get it moving.
then, we will move all boxes into basement/garage/a bedroom, and unpack 1 box or 2 per nite until completetion.
it takes a while, but organization is key.

We're actually doing the same thing, except everything is in the spare room/guest room/nursery on the second floor. A majority of the stuff is clothes that we just need to hang in the big closet upstairs, but there's other things we need to go through and store.
The house is livable, just a mess.

btw - not being snarky - I seem to remember a nice town center with good restaurants right off the PKWY.
And I stayed at the Kenilworth Inn once! It was sordid.

The last folks used the room that will be our guest room as a nursery. It's also our eventual intention, but not for a while yet.

I know. Everybody's on baby-watch, from Anthony up at the pizza place by our old apartment to all of you darlings.
It's pretty funny. And it's also a tribute to how much you love your own kids that you're all promoting having them!

So, you'll be the one pointing and laughing over in the corner while Matty suits up to change a diaper?
(Actually, that would be me.)
p.s. - Somebody's gotta teach the kid some multilingual cuss words. I only know cusses in French and Spanish.
