I'm putting a bunch of songs that are sentimental(enough) to me in a playlist for my groove machine.

They could be "love" songs, songs that make you think of your significant other, maybe compilations you've made for people?

"I Used To Love Her" - Guns N Roses.

"Seven Seas" by Babyface has a beautiful chorus that sounds like no other song. Simply beautiful.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i1FHK_jVKpo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i1FHK_jVKpo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

"Goldilox" by King's X. A bit too "metal" to be relationshippy but, holy F, if this isn't the most soaring chorus you've ever heard......
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-8790J9OX9g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-8790J9OX9g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

"Please" by LUDO. Another chorus that really goes to another place.

I'd say for entire album Beck "Sea Change". For me, its the ultimate breakup album. Its haunting and beautiful from start to finish.

This has been my ultimate sad relationship song over the last decade, Blur's "No Distance Left to Run:"

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1z1rHoNOeeM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1z1rHoNOeeM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

(I prefer the cheesy crying monkey to the real video)

I was just looking through some old compilation CD's that were made for me a while back, some lovely tunes on them:

Do You Realize - Flaming Lips
Stand Inside Your Love - Smashing Pumpkins
True Love Waits - Radiohead

Of course the Guns n Roses song is a given :thumbup:

Paul Westerberg, "Born For Me"

When the lonliest eyes
And the emptiest arms
Finally decide to meet
With a head in a lap
And a tongue tied in knots
Then the lonliest eyes
Try and speak
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
For a couple of nights
You could say you're my wife
You could stay
or run away if you please
The heaviest head
and the emptiest hands
You'll be safe in the light
When we kiss
When we breathe
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
Stay here with you

I can't bear it
I can't share it
With anybody in my little world
I can't hide it
I'll never find it
With another girl
When we kiss
When we breathe
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
I can't bear to
Try and share you
Well, I'm the one to talk
You're the one that's free
When you forget me
Then you'll let me
Fade away...
You'll always be
Born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you

Uncle Tupelo, "Gun"

falling out the window
tripping on a wrinkle in the rugfalling out of love, dear
it hurt much worse when you gave up

just don't tell me which way I oughta run
or what good I could do anyone
'cause my heart it was a gun
but it's unloaded now
so don't bother

climbing up the ladder
breaking my shin on the very first rung
waking up the neighbors
it's all right, they understand they're just as dumb

and they don't tell me which way I oughta run
or what good I could do anyone
'cause my heart it was a gun
but it's unloaded now
so don't bother me now
don't bother

crawling back to you now
I sold my guitar to the girl next door
she asked me if I knew how
I told her I don't think so anymore

don't tell me which way I oughta run
what good could I do anyone
'cause my heart it was a gun
but it's unloaded now
so don't bother

Lucinda Williams, "Right In Time"

Not a day goes by I don't think about you
You left your mark on me it's permanent a tattoo
Pierce the skin and the blood runs through
Oh my baby
The way you move it's right in time
The way you move it's right in time
It's right in time with me
I stand over the stove in the kitchen
Watch the water boil and I listen
Turn off the television
Oh my baby
The way you move it's right in time
The way you move it's right in time
It's right in time with me

SOLO

I take off my watch and my earrings
My bracelets and everything
Lie on my back and moan at the ceiling
Oh my baby
Think about you and that long ride
I bite my nails I get weak inside
Reach over and turn off the light
Oh my baby
The way you move it's right in time
The way you move it's right in time
It's right in time with me
The way you move it's right in time
The way you move it's right in time
It's right in time with me

Rolling Stones, "Wild Horses"

Childhood living is easy to do
The things you wanted I bought them for you
Graceless lady, you know who I am
You know I can't let you slide through my hands

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I watched you suffer a dull aching pain
Now you've decided to show me the same
But no sweet, vain exits or offstage lines
Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, couldn't drag me away

I know I dreamed you a sin and a lie
I've got my freedom, but I don't have much time
Faith has been broken, tears must be cried
Let's do some living after love dies
Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day

Wild horses couldn't drag me away
Wild, wild horses, we'll ride them some day

My last selection is my favorite breakup song ever:

Paul Westerberg, "Things"

Things I wanna tell you
How you make me feel
How you look to me
And how good it feels
Things I don't wanna tell you
Every little thing's all right
What I was before
And where I was last night

Always things
All these things
Always things

Things I try to tell you but come out oh so wrong
Seem to feel pretty good, seem to last pretty long
Things I don't wanna tell you
Now there ain't no doubt
You lit a fire in me
Can't seem to put out

Always things
All these things

Things I long to tell you but I don't know how
Things I don't wanna tell you but I have to now
Packed my things

Things I'm bound to tell you like that dress looks great on ya
I could use some breathing room but I'm still in love with you
Things I'd never tell you, down the line someday
You'll be a song I sing, a thing I give away
Pack my things today, I packed my things today

That's a lot of lyrics...

Smashing Pumpkins, "Spaceboy" and their cover of "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Thin Lizzy.

That was one of the first songs my boyfriend went out of his way to learn on the guitar for me.

Swoon.
