I have never heard a more biased "national" broadcaster in my life. Aside from banging a cowbell in the booth, this motherfucker couldn't have rooted any harder for the Rays. I couldn't give a shit if he wanted the Rays to win, but do your goddamn job and call the game straight down the middle. And it wasn't just clearly pro-Ray calls, he was just as shitty by downplaying Red Sox calls. Jesus Christ, I've never heard anybody get so excited to see a B.J. Upton foul ball and so dejected by a Dustin Pedrioa home run. And he was just as bad during the Angels-Sox series. Hopefully his dream will come true after the World Series and Torii Hunter and Carlos Pena will put him on the rotisserie.

The audio of when "Ol' Broken Knees" Sid Bream slide into homeplate with Skip Carey screaming, "Braves Win, Braves Win, Braves Win!!" was some of the best sports audio I think I could ever hear.

He did a better job than most announcers or havent you been paying attention?

That's not saying much. Most baseball announcers are horrid, especially the national ones. Chip has all the appeal and range of a block of wood with zero analysis capabilities.

I don't think I'd say that: I heard a tape once of Harry Caray calling a Cotton Bowl game in the '50s or '60s, and he was great. He wasn't always the drunken self-parody he became at the end.

I can't tell from your post whether you hate McCarver or not, but...
McCarver's brain is mush now. It's uncomfortable to listen to.

This is true. Even into the 80's with the Cubs he would start off the game really strong before ending up sauced b the last couple of innings. He should have retired after that big stroke he had. He really kept doing it about a decade too long.
