Well, I'm disheartened, to say the least.
I was holding out hope that this report was a fabrication.
I generally dont enjoy stories from anonymous lawyers.

But Papi has confirmed it.
He checked with the Player's Assoc, and they informed him he is indeed on the list.

There truly has been a tear in my eye ever since.

yanker fans will have their fun now, but I truly enjoyed the thought that "my " team was free from this embarrassment.

It of course doesnt completely take away the feelings I've had these past 30 or so years for this team, most notably the past decade, nor their accomplishments during this period, but it stings for sure.

Ortiz says he currently doesnt know what substance put him on the list, and although I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now, it sure is hard to do so.

The steroid era isn't funny anymore. Weird.

Victor Martinez is batting 202 since May 19th.

He will fit right in with this lineup, who yesterday had 5 batters in their lineup 250 or under.

This thing did not stop in 03.

It looked for a minute like the old timer was gonna outlast the rookie.
Especially after some amazing defensive plays behind him, it seemed as if Smoltz was given smelling salts and really found the plate, and his command.

But yeah, that was just for a minute.

Tonight should be a much better game; a pitcher's duel one would hope!

Agreed. It was a great game. Not just a pitcher's duel, but a pitchers (plural) duel!

We expected it to be hot between Beckett and burnett, but a Battle of the Bullpens??!! Nice!

And I'll give the fans credit, they actually filled up the stadium and for the most part kept it filled all 15 innings.

Obviously hoped for a different outcome, but an exciting game is an exciting game!

The Masterson thing got me thinking.

This Tex thing has so many ramifications.

You would not have needed to trade prospects for Vmart.

The Yankees would be struggling with a big hole in their lineup. Prob forcing them to deal a Hughes or Joba for a Matt Holliday or Vmart.

The Yanks because of that would prob be nowhere near where they are now.

And the Sox would be so much better with Tex in the lineup.

The Yankees stealing Tex is one of those deals that are much bigger than thought at the time it happened.

Mojopins name is on the 2003 list.

There. I said it. So it must be true.

If we r gonna believe anonymous sources over actual people,
we may just as well admit we r all on that list.

People want the police to have absolute proof before even approaching a suspect,
but if the guy is on a team we don't like, accuse away regardless of facts
or lack thereof.

As for this series so far, only Yankee fans could be happy with a 3-8 record.
And IF they sweep us, they'll be happy with a 1-2 record in sweeps.

I've enjoyed these past 2 games (no not the first one so much) because I'm a fan of baseball and there have been some amazing performances, buccholz included.
I know yanker fans can't enjoy a game unless they win. And I pity them for that.

ok, like i said i didn't know if it was intentional, but have no problem if you say it seemed likely. doesn't change the underlying fact the sox are a team that hits batters at an unprecedented rate. i just checked the last 10 years and this is where their pitchers ranked among AL teams in hitting batters

2009 - 2
2008 - 3
2007 - 5
2006 - 1
2005 - 1
2004 - 2
2003 - 3
2002 - 2
2001 - 1
2000 - 4

so, over the last ten seasons, the lowest they finished was 5. only twice were they below the top 3, and only once in the past 9 seasons. QED

Let's see...Porcello threw at Youkils TWICE in his 21 game career,
aaannnd...Youk, in FIVE YEARS as a professional baseball player, and untold pitches targeting his body, has NEVER charged the mound. Not ONCE.

So already, Porcello is twice as wrong as Youk.

As for how Porcello could possibly have a vendetta against Youk in his short career, I hope youre kidding, but just in case there are people saying, "good point," a pitcher throws both good and bad pitches for his team, not himself. Youk is a threat, as is Martinez, which is why they were targeted once the need for "retaliation" arose.

Yes, it's a part of the game, but if the possibility of getting your clock cleaned didnt exist,
it would be done alot more often. I'm glad Youk FINALLY did something about it.

And neither Porcello or Youk are appealing.

What does that even mean?

Was your police exam the redsox version?

Answer. Any Redsox

Question two: Who has the right of way in an intersection.

Answer: ANY Redsox.

Ok, just this once, I'll explain. But dont make me hold your hand all day.

Go home means go back to your own thread where you are beloved and your "insights" matter.

And plenty of room on the bandwagon means...oh cmon, really? You dont know that the majority of yanker fans are bandwagoners? and you think I live in fantasy land?!!

(and yes, before you 'retort' I understand that theres alot of bandwagon jumpers to the Sox as well since 04. Yes, you're that predictable.)

They aren't getting any production at the plate from SS anyways, but at least Gonzales can play excellent defense.

He lost his luster long ago. The final straw was that awful Gagne deal.

I think he has done a pretty good job.

He really hasn't overpaid for anyone, unlike some other teams in the division and has built an excellent farm system which has lessened the need to make a huge trade, reactionary trade. He helped up the asking price for Johan Santana, keeping the Yankees from getting him and has not kept aging veterans around when they asked for more than they were worth.

The Gagne trade was pretty bad in hindsight, but Murphy was never going to play left field for the Sox anyways, Gabbard was reacquired and is never going to do anything in the majors and the third prospect is still playing A ball for Texas.

That trade is more than offset by the Schilling trade though, where he got an ace for three prospects that have still not panned out for anyone and in turn the first World Series title in 86 years.

Yes, but I'm sorry: you just don't get rid of a guy named "Murph" in Boston.

I agree though....for the most part, his trades has panned out pretty well. He's had some clunkers and the revolving door at SS since 2004 makes me nervous. I AM disappointed this off-season that he didn't try and bring back Derek Lowe and Orlando Cabrera or go after Adam Dunn when they lost out on Teixiera.

True, but Hanley Ramirez didn't win a championship in Boston. Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell did. So that's somewhat forgiveable.

Yeah to this answer.

Add in the fact that Theo wasn't the GM that pulled the trigger on the Beckett trade since he "resigned" that off season though.

I forgot to add earlier that the Sox have drafted incredibly well in recent years, further eroding the need for a major, blockbuster trade.

When you can bring guys like Pedroia, Ellsbury, Papelbon and Masterson up and they contribute immediately, you have to give some credit to management.

I was re-reading the other thread to see what the hub-bub was all about. I guess it started after Chris' comment about the Yankees not winning this century. To me, I didn't see it as a big deal because others have said similar things before in jest. Whatever. Maybe I just read it differently than some -- or I'm obtuse. Fellow Sox fan notwithstanding, I've found to Chris to be a ball-buster at times but he's never been malicious and has in fact at times been more gracious than many Sox fans have been. And please, BDC was in a class all by himself.

By the way, I wanted to give props to Junichi Tazawa for the job he did yesterday. After giving up the walk-off to A-Rod the last time he faced the Yanks, he handled his first start against them quite impressively. There's obviously more pressure in this series, and this 23 year old stepped up and allowed 8 hits over 6 innings but more importantly, no runs. Very promising indeed.

No one really said Chris is malicious or a bad person. I do not know him personally so i will not judge him as a person. Ive heard he is a decent guy.

I just think his massive love for the sox sometimes clouds his judgement..

I think he is gunna hate ths comparison, but i am going to give it.

I think he is alot like Arod in the fact that he tends to put his foot in his mouth and sometimes says things that irk alot of people.

Arod tries to give props to other people, but then he just says something that maybe he should leave out, and gets into a shit storm, and makes people forget the intended messege, and seems childish at times.

I was asked via PM to come in here and address certain comments that were made.
before we start, lets forgive Kevin for his broken English and inability to fully relate his points. And thats not a shot, just that happens sometimes.

No one I know ever said anything bad behind Chris personally. What I have commented on is that at times, Chris does seem to be a little too much of a homer and figures out a good way to view things to try to make the sox look better in his eyes.

Now forget BDC, this is a trait shared by TONS of people. I could swear I remembered Chris being the one who said the yankees hit sox players at a clip of 20-2. I only remember cause I remember BrettMojo asking on what planet. Whoever said that is INSANE.

In general Chris' opinion is usually a little biased but he is a fan. I think what Kevin most means is, unlike the yankee thread, where non yankee fans post all the time and discussion moves on, is that any time some one comes into this thread, and posts as a yankee fan or non red sox stuff, chris tells them to go to their own thread.
I dont care, but I can see how some people would think Chris is kinda giving an attitude.

There have been times where I have read stuff Chris posted and thought he was a little too homer, but there is times like that with most. Im sure even I try to put good spins on some Rutgers shit from time to time. I dont think anyone actually dislikes anyone over it.

As far as me talkin to kevin about it, thats usually just whenever something gets posted you are like oh check this out. I have not heard anyone legitimately badmouthing anyone behind their backs.

Really nice win tonight.

Wake pitched like the first half Wake, and Papi hit like 2004 Papi.

Hopefully they can get the brooms out tomorrow.

Obama is in town too. Bosox are taking down his Chisox.

Suck it!

Well, the Sox don't have Brad Penny to kick around anymore, since he asked for and received a release from Boston.

That was most encouraging to see Wake pitch 7 strong innings

Great, Wake's back is acting up again and he's been scratched from his next start. And today we get Paul Byrd Act II.

I think today's game turned out a lot better than most anticipated. Byrd was really hitting his spots with multiple pitches and really looked good. Wagner looked impressive striking out the side in his only inning also.

I just hope they can continue to play well going into Tampa.

385 saves, I think he may have pitched in a couple of big spots once or twice.

I get what your saying, but we aren't talking about a rookie here that is going to get rattled easy. He still has velocity and his breaking stuff had some movement, thats the important thing. Hell, Hughes hasn't been in a big spot either, but would you want anyone else to take his spot right now?

Maybe Wagner implodes, but he delivered the goods today.

I doubt he will be. I see him as a mop up guy when the rosters expand

And last night we got Paul Byrd Act I. C'mon Wake -- be like your old self this season.

Way to blow a 6 run lead. What the fuck is up with Manny Delcarmen lately?
