I guess this would have been funny eight or nine years ago. And on top of that, this gimmick can't sustain itself for more than two or three episodes, and that's being generous.
This is unfortunate btw, cause I think DAG can be a damn funny guy, when he shines he fuckin' shines. But this show is just a big suck fest.
Any of you actually watching much less have an opinion?

I tend to judge things by the commercials...and the radio commercials for it sucked ass. Worse than Roni Lynn Deutch & almost as bad as Susan Zapper.

Honestly, it was more of a poor, poor rip off of Chapelle's show, which may or may be not be worse than Frank TV conceptually and artistically.

I was fast forwarding through it, and that bit where they are reading off names that blacks can call whites, I deleted it. It's so derivative of some bad racially charged skit on Chappelle/Mencia. This show's not for me.

If it becomes a cult hit, I'll rent the DVD's when they come out and catch up. Otherwise, DAG is one of those guys I just don't find funny.

I do find DAG a really funny guy, and this show wasn't terrible but I agree its format that will be really hard to sustain. I understand why the N word sketch wouldve been in the pilot, but it was shoe horned in and really inorganic. I also think people are getting close to being really over edgy racial humor. I dont think this show is hopeless.

I used to go to tapings of Tough Crowd all the time. Tickets were, shall we say, pretty easy to get.
The FUNNIEST shit used to go down during the commercial breaks. The comedians would goof around or, occasionally, one of 'em would do two mins of standup. It was a great time.

If they ever release a DVD of that series, it better include that off-air footage. It was killer.

Then another time Norton said that we should all laugh at their jokes and none at Colin's, etc.

And occasionally, they'd make an on-air reference to something funny that happened during the commerical break and the audience would roll.
The people at home must've been like; "WTF?".

Colin was the least funny component of that show though. That much is certain.

Comedy Central wants to replace Chapelles Show so fucking bad, it's not even funny. They thought Mencia was it, and now they think Chocolate News is it, but they both are terrible. Stereotypical, unoriginal, "Black people love rap music", "Mexican people eat taco's" kind of comedy.
