It's already out for both system (360 & PS3).
To those who have it, what are your impressions? From what I've played, it's really heavy on the atmosphere and sound, which are 2 big pluses. It has it's fair share of jumpy/scary moments. Not only that, there's no HUD whatsoever. Your health meter is on your back, and everything else (from map to inventory management) is done is real time, through a hologram that eminates from Issac's helmet.

It looks amazing, but my shitty local Wal-Mart decided that Saints Row two should get shelf space and Dead Space shouldn't and Fable comes out next week so I shan't be getting it any time soon.
This game is like the unholy love child of Doom 3, Resident Evil 4, System Shock 2 and Bioshock. I'm only at chapter 3 so I can't comment fully yet. So far though the atmosphere is great, the combat is a bit sluggish and clunky and the story is interesting (It's going in generally the direction that is obvious from the second it starts, with maybe a bit of twist, but only maybe and even then only a little).
We'll see.

Anything that is like System Shock 2 cannot be all that bad!

The reviews (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/deadspace) have been very positive, and I think the lack of a HUD for complete immersion is a great idea. I've heard it called "Bioshock in space" which is just about enough to sell me.
I've just got too many other games I haven't finished to start on another one right now. And I think I'll be picking up "Left 4 Dead" in a month to get my survival/horror/zombie fix.

Why not order it online? You could probably get a better price than you could at Wal-Mart anyway.
Or you can order it from Wal-Mart online and have it shipped to your local store for pickup.

I'm just going to wait and buy Fable instead.

I'm late to the party. I picked up this game for $25 used and it kicks ass. The graphics are great, no HUD is unique, the no cut scene approach is a nice departure. And it is nice and scary, a few times I jumped off the couch. It is like RE4 and Bioshock had a baby with better controls.

I just finished playing it, and i ended the game with way too many nodes. Buy them and spend them early. I used only 4 weapons so i sold the others and their ammo for cash. I also played on the "easy" setting. I love the line gun. I maxed out the line gun and rig with nodes. The only thing the flame thrower worked well on was those little things that came out of the preggo.
Loved the game and it seemed to end too soon for me.
Dead Space 2 coming out anytime soon??

I rented this game many months ago and enjoyed it... It reminded me of metroid more than anything... The one thing that I felt it fell way short in was that there was no replay incentive... Only thing that kept me from buying it. Maybe in a year or two when its $10 used... Plus when you look at the DLC content (which isn't free), its kind of insulting. Great rental, not worth owning.

I just bought a kickass gaming rig, so i am going back to play great games i missed (couldnt play on my old POS pc)
I started with Dead Space because i was able to borrow it and the key worked.
Now im playing Bioshock which was given to me as a gift ( i love this game).
I need more FPS games that are critically acclaimed.
I already played HL, HL2 and all that stuff. (imo the Half Life series is the holy grail of gaming).
I play TFC a few times a week. I suck at TF2 and counterstrike/day of defeat.
Where can i rent games?? how much does it cost and how long can i hold it?
Again - some games you can borrow from a friend and play. Others, like Valve/steam
games, only let you use the key once!!! My friends Portal game didnt work.

Gamefly? Its like netflix for games, mailed to your house, keep them as long as you want.
Or just get it modified.
