Question about a Samsung Instinct I just came across. It was actually sent to my Dad's house on accident...had his name but a different address and account number...so it hasn't been billed to him or anything. Shows like theres another man out there with his name but lives in Atlanta, they just fucked up and sent it to the wrong place.

I'm wondering if I can still have this phone activated under my account? I was going to just use it for the camera and some applications that are free, but if I can have it activated, I wonder if they can track the SIM card number or whatever is used to ID this phone and make me pay for it before I can have it turned on.

any info would be helpful...thanks!

what service? tmobile or at&t?

they can track the phone by the IMEI number, it appears in their systems associated to whatever sim card is in it.

When the person doesnt receive it this is how they'll track if its been use.

sprint phones don't have sim cards...

anyway, same thing applies, if they trace the phones esn they'll know who's using it.

There are no laws against using a phone you found though...

not worried about breaking any laws...just wonder if they will let me activate it though.
