So we often discuss the best comic book stories, but I don't think we ever discussed the following. What is the best comic book story for your favorite comic book characters or comic book character teams. For instance, what's the best Superman story? What's the best Batman story, etc. Here's a starting list for me:

That's two for year one.
It's the only one I've read so far, and while I liked it, if that's the best, I guess I'm going to be disappointed.

Weapon X is pretty great.

I've read a lot of Superman, and All-Star is a solid choice. Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow and For the Man Who Has Everything are good ones too.

My choice for Batman would be the collected O'Neill/Adams Ra'as Al Ghul stuff. Fried gold.

whatever happened to the man of tomorrow is definitely the next superman book ill pick up.

Is this collected as Tales of the Demon?

If so it really is a good introduction to the whole Batman/Bruce Wayne - Talia - Ra's Al Ghul story line.

Read that, then read Batman: Son of the Demon.


I'd really like to see a Talia, Daughter of the Demon / Son of the Demon storyline in the next Batman movie.

Talia comes to kill Batman - the man who killed her father.
She nearly kills Batman, he barley escapes.
Talia and Bruce meet and fall in love, Bruce tells her he is Batman, but he didn't kill her father.
Talia gets pregnant.
Bruce gives up being Batman to raise a family with Talia
Ra's Al Ghul returns to claim his heir
Bruce becomes Batman again to fight Ra's Al Ghul
Talia fakes her death or fakes a miscarriage to stop them from fighting over the soon to be born baby
Halfway through the credits Talia with short blond hair is seen living in Europe with the baby or a couple is walking into an orphanage to adopt a baby.

Is this collected as Tales of the Demon?

It was included as part of Tales of the Demon, but Tales collects that and more.

The Return of Barry Allen was great. Terminal Velocity was pretty awesome too. All of that Mark Waid run is worth reading.

Best Wally West Flash story may be Terminal Velocity.

Geoff Johns was incredible on the Flash, but I think his run on the Flash was great because of what he did for the Rogues. Mark Waid made Wally West what he is, and Geoff Johns took that Wally West, used him, but made the Rogues into arguably the best rogues gallery any hero has.
