I wanted to start a thread about Fried Chicken. How to cook it, recipes, etc. It is very yummy, and I like putting it in my tummy.
I've never cooked fried chicken, but I sure eat it. My favorite favorite favorite fried chicken I ever had was from the The Pirate's House in Savannah, GA (http://www.thepirateshouse.com/).
Honey Pecan Fried Chicken
Fried Chicken marinated in a Honey & Pecan sauce.
That's it. Simple as that. My lord it is yumtastic!

Anybody can make so-so fried chicken, but you really have to have one of those pressure cooker/fryer (?) things like the use in restaurants to really make it perfect. Homemade is not bad though. Be sure to add enough pepper to the flour coating.
PS - love Pirates House and all the restaurants in Savannah! One of my fav places.

That fried flounder with apricot glaze you can get down there is 100x better than any ole Paula Dean (mass production now) fried chicken and gravey. PD's was kinda of a let down. Didn't even see the old broad. Didn't see any ghosts and it was hotter than balls (July). But super place to visit.

I'm generally pretty good around the kitchen. But frying chicken or fish is definitely one thing I haven't figured out. I'm pretty sure my timing and/or temperature is always off.
Now I just wait for my chick to do it.

start off frying boneless strips, and after you coat the strips with flour, put them back in the fridge for @ least 90 min b4 frying. i'm doing beer battered fried chicken this weekend, it's a lot more messy but well worth it.

The ONLY way to make true Southern Fried Chicken is with an iron skillet. Thats the only way that the batter can fry and brown like its suppose to, including the certain peppers and salts or spices one chooses.
my mother was the best at fried chicken....typical statement, but it is true. Man do I miss her fried chicken....
thanks...this post made me sad now....:glurps:

This is not appropriate talk for 2 and a half hours before lunchtime. I hate you all. I'm going to have to scour Teterboro, NJ at noon to find some Fried Chicken.

QFT, they sell em seasoned and ready to use, and they are naturally non stick, so you are not cooking your food in chemical laden coatings.

I know that there are a lot of kosher restaurants in Teaneck, and this is one of them. I'm guessing that the ribs are beef then. Have you had them? Any good? (on the menu they have 3 ribs and slaw for around $20) I just wanted to see if they measure up before I go.

I had a Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich with Guacamole, bacon, tomatoes, and mayo. I'm usually not one for trying guacamole on something other than beef and steak, but damn was it tasty. It was on focaccia, and it was mad tasty.
I love fried chicken.

It's weird. I get cravings for certain foods, and fried chicken is one of them. Tacos and nathan's are the two others. It pisses me off, cuz like when that crave hits these foods are usually out of reach....

Whoa, hold it right there. Nathan's has the best fries. The krinkle cut leaves ridges which fry crispier and flavory-er than the rest of the fry.

A little butter, a lot of sauce. Shake em up in a plastic bag. Poor excess over the top.
And I have made them baked. It's at least slightly healthier.
