Why such hostility? Some double domes running experiments and writing papers affects us non-smarties not at all. Worst case scenario: They're wrong and have to figure something else out. Or maybe they're right and something cool comes of it.

M is short for membrane theory. they could call it 'brane, but it would be confused with "brain."
why people can't use polysyllabic words is beyond me.
