Well its Thanksgiving weekend here in the great white north so what are all you Canucks having for dinner today?

I spent all day yesterday getting stuff ready for today. I made 2 pumpkin pies (I can't make pie crust so I cheated and bought frozen) 4 dozen perogies (no we won't eat all 4 dozen today) and a huge pan of cabbage rolls.

Today the only thing I will have to cook is the turkey. The perogies don't take long to get ready and the cabbage rolls only need to be reheated.

This is a very odd Thanksgiving meal to me as we in the east traditionally have mashed potatoes, veggies turkey, dressing and gravy. Crazy flatlanders....

So what are you eatin' for dinner?

I love Thanksgiving. I would love to have dual citizenship so I can celebrate it twice. Once while watching football and once while watching hockey fights.

on the subject of holiday food..

I love a holiday ham. Like a christmas ham. But how come you only have it on Christmas? Why can't you have Ham on a Thursday in June..whats the big deal?

And how come when you go to a restaurant they never have "Ham" on the menu. They may have a few different pork dishes, but i want a Holiday Ham! With Mashed Potatoes!

With or without the big pineapple slices?

My "Canadian" thanksgiving grace:

Dear God, we are thankful for all of your gifts but mostly for round bacon, molson, the Queen's health, hockey, Paul Schaffer, and not being the 51st state. Amen.:innocent:

I have a duel citizenship and it stunk as a kid cuz we lived in Quebec and we'd have to go celebrate THanksgiving in VT with the American family...but it wasn't THanksgiving in Canada so we didn't get the days off from school and we'd end up all tired the next morning in school.
THanksgiving is much more celebrated in the USA than Canada.

Just got back from walking the dogs and man does it smell good in here. Is there anything that smells as good as coming home to roasting turkey. Yummmm

pre thanksgiving advice for you november givers of thanks.

If you're at a crowded house and you suddenly have to take a shit, flush the instant the shit hits the water.

It will mean a second flush for the toilet paper but it almost eliminates the smell from lingering longer and the inevitable opening of the door to give the gift of knowledge of what your innards smell like to a near and dear family member.

You're welcome.

they show the fights up there?

I thought hockey fights were a myth?

(actually - I'm thinking back to my first live game... holy shit there's a lot of fighting in hockey)

Happy T-day!

I feel like I should celebrate too cuz most people from the east that I talk to think I'm Canadian.
