I use 4Media Video Converter to convert files on my Mac, I'm not sure if it converts MKV files but there is a possibility.

Ok, a similar question. I downloaded a movie torrent and it turned out to be a 4.5gig mkv file. How can I burn this?

have you tried VSO ConvertXtoDVD? It might work. (I haven't had to burn a DVD since buying a Philips DVP5990 DVD player with the USB jack on the front, it's f'n sweet & was less than $60)

ok, heres the next problem. i got the file into avi, but the device im saving it to is formatted as FAT32 which limits transfers to 4gb. so i reformat into MAC OS EXTENDED. this works, but the data is unreadable by non mac computers. what format allows larger transfers and also works with macs and pcs?

It turns out I had that, but had never tried to use it. Unfortunately, the two hour movie was turned into a 18 minute clip. I'm sure it's my fault, but I can't figure out what I did wrong.

How fast is your pc?
a 4.5 gig mkv file is an HD movie, maybe you are just overloading it and it's bombing out. I have never done a file that large so I can't be sure.
Here is a tutorial page:

Just change stuff around in the output container and all that to get it into DiVX.
Or you can try some other methods:
