I saw BLINDNESS. Waka waka.

It was an interesting film. It's extremely dirty and gritty... and the plot is interesting.

People start inexplicably going completely blind. The entire city comes to a halt and everybody is eventually put into these "survival camps" (see also: concentration camps) where the conditions are filthy and intolerable.

Inevitably, the inmates start to form their own government (if you can call it that) and start to mistreat each other in every possible way.
At times, it reminds you of everything from 28 DAYS LATER to LORD OF THE FLIES to THE MYST to CHILDREN OF MEN etc etc.
The tone of the film feels extremely foreign. The pace and style isn't at all "American" but, don't let that throw you off. Many people walked out of the theater but, those that stayed were glad we did. The movie kinda makes you suffer along with the characters.

As usual, Americans want/need/demand to be spoonfed every answer. This movie (like CLOVERFIELD, and to a lesser extent, THE HAPPENING) does not explain everything. It never pulls the curtain back. We know only what the characters know... and nothing more. The lack of explaination seems to be pissing off some viewers but, I thought it was realistic, and therefore... enjoyable.

Check it out if you can.

That one scene (you'll know) was too much for me. The movie was okay but just too many questions not answered and too many actions that aren't explained or shown the aftermath of.

Of course, I know what scenes you're referring to. In fact... two people (who were not seated together) got up and left.
I didn't exactly "enjoy" this movie. It's not a feel-good film. But I'm definitely glad that I stuck it out.

Glad to see that you at least gave it a fair shot.

Yeah it was pretty good but I would have liked to have known what caused it, but its not like that all the time which is the beauty of film.

Our theater started out with 8 in there and ended up with 5, I guess they didnt like the scene either, although I have no clue which one you are talking about.

Was it the food for sex scenes?

I saw the trailer, and thought it looked great.
Blind people are pissed, though.

"The National Federation of the Blind condemns and deplores this film, which will do substantial harm to the blind of America and the world. Blind people in this film are portrayed as incompetent, filthy, vicious, and depraved. They are unable to do even the simplest things like dressing, bathing, and finding the bathroom. The truth is that blind people regularly do all of the same things that sighted people do."

Then they obviously dont understand film, it wasnt about blind people it was about the depravity of human beings, god I hate people that feel everything has to be politically correct.

That's what I said.
If anything, it displays the strength of blind people for being able to function.

Yeah, I heard about that shit with protesters. LAME.

They have no legitimate basis to bitch.
The reason blind people can do everything sighted people can do is because people WITH sight have made that possible.

Every piece of technology that blind people use was designed and constructed by people who can see.
When a blind person crosses the street, people with sight don't run 'em over. Everybody who can see is able to drive safely.

BLINDNESS isn't about that.
Everyone in the movie is blind. Traffic lights are useless, electricity ceases, running water facilities stop pumping, restaurants, taxi drivers, etc etc.... NOBODY can see. People really would be helpless in that situation. Society really WOULD break down.

Being ONE blind dude in a community of millions who have their sight has absolutely nothing in common with the themes explored by this movie.

The cinematography was very experimental.

from the director of the Constant Gardner which also had some experimental qualities.
