Ever since the last month or so when we wash our towels(bigger towels mostly) they get a musty smell to them. The white we can add bleach to. Well wash in bleach. But we have black towels and some other colored ones as well that just reek. The GF tried vinegar. Only a bit I guess. She says she needs 2 cups for it to do the trick. I think the only trick that will do is make the towels smell like vinegar then.
Any one have any ideas. I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe i will mix in some Intelligentsia into the mix. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I could go for A Ron Bennington now.

Are you putting the towels away damp?

does your washing machine maybe retain some water after the spin cycle and that gets smelly?
Add a softener to the wash load for the rinse... maybe that helps.

you may want to check the lint drawer/compartment, and check to see if the exhaust vents are clear

If they're smellin musty then something is growing on them, either give up the color and bleach them or toss them out.

positive attitudes don't work with fungus
(unless you are ingesting it on purpose and listening to good music)

i kick it old school and go hard core with the original clorox. it worked for me just last week. now the white towels i use don't leave a stink residue on my skin.
regular clorox is good if your plastic shower curtain has mildew stains. throw the curtain in the washer with a 1/2 cup of clorox.
clorox is also good for poison ivy. takes the itch (and skin) right off.
hey i don't mind giving my 2 cents, i;m tryting to get ot 1,000 posts before christmas.....

Softener should do the trick. I hang my towels on the door, making sure the damp towel never touches itself.

get a little sea salt on in there. Sea salt and vinegar towels are my favorite.

Do you keep your towels in a cabinet under a sink? We had a similar problem and it turned our that there was a leak so the towels were getting moldy when the sink leaked.
