'Tron 2.0' Gets First Two Hottie Castmembers

It is not often that movie geeks can be taken by surprise, but that's exactly what happened at Comic Con back in July when Disney screened test footage from the long-rumored sequel to the 80's sci-fi classic, Tron. Now a few months later fans can rejoice at news that the project is still chugging along -- in fact, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Olivia Wilde (of TV's House) and Beau Garrett ( Wilde's co-star in the horror flick Turistas) have signed to star along side Jeff Bridges in the sequel to the cult classic.

Newcomer Joseph Kosinski will direct from a script co-written with LOST writer Adam Horowitz. This is Kosinski's first feature after making a name directing commercials for Gears of War, Halo 3, and Apple, and has already been signed for the Logan's Run update over at WB (if that happens). According to the Reporter, TR2N, "is acting as a "next chapter." Plot details are being guarded closely, but Wilde will play a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film."

That's what I thought too - I had no idea there was an early trailer and I thought everything was speculation.

I think the masses would love this tidbit of info. Tron 2.0 is going to be shot ENTIRELY in 3-D. They are really excited about what they are going to be doing with the Tron world in 3-D.

With new technology, they can actually wear the glasses at the monitors as they shoot & it will show them exactly how the 3-D will look so that they can get exactly what they are looking for.

If there has ever been a world that 3-D would totally embrace, I think it would be the world of Tron. Specifically, we are going to get a first person view from inside of a light cycle in the film. That should be a lot of fun.

I think this movie is going to be amazing. With Bridges back as the same character who we last saw playing the game in the 80's, now playing the same game in the 00's, we have to assume he has been at this game his whole life - through every incarnation and advancement of graphics.
I love the idea of looking in on his life again. What happens to a guy who plays the same game for 30 years? Why would he still be playing?
Bridges will surely bring a notable amount of depth to the character. You have to recognize that the Flynn character has been living a life since we last saw him - and he his now after such a big passage of time.

This is not to be considered 'fucking with a classic."

IMO, it is much more likely that he has created some sort of new, direct interface into the computer system.

According to what I've seen about this movie, he disappeared again a few years after the events of the first movie, implying that he's gone back into the computer.

Tron 2 PR people realized that the original sucks, and people have forgotten it, so to avoid people re-watching it before Tron 2, they pulled it from everywhere.

Finally got to see this tonight. Great movie, very cool. Amazing 3D. The script could have used a little punching up, but overall a fun flick. Amazing effects that really need to be seen on the big screen.

And Olivia Wilde is SHAmoking.

Actually DID see it in IMAX 3D. It was impressive!
But Furtherman was right...the script needed a little more work. I was disappointed they didn't use any of the tanks.
