Not what I thought it was going to be for my new home built compy. Seems like driver issues etc.

Depends on what you are going to use the computer for. If you stick with windows, I say go to XP PRO. It is better then Vista, you have more control then XP Home, and I think you can use more ram with XP pro.
Hope this helps.

I've had no joy with Vista, at least the Home Basic package. I have 4 machines on XP Pro 32-bit and they work without a hitch, I have one machine on XP Pro 64-bit. This is a quad core beast with 4GB of RAM. I needed XP Pro 64-bit to handle the RAM and because most of my video editing and 3D software recommended 64-bit, and all of it installed and runs without a hitch. But, some software does not play well with 64-bit, like iTunes that can't install the CD burning applet...So, unless you need 64-bit, use XP Pro 32-bit, even if it means the Vista downgrade.

XP 64-bit was my original decision to install on my new PC. I did a lot of research online, and I noticed that it has a LOT of shitty problems and terrible support. Most manufacturers moved onto 64-bit Vista (which I run). It's my only choice for the system I have, and I am pretty happy about it so far.
Avoid XP 64-Bit though, if ya can. Sometimes this is unavoidable though...

update... switched to Vista 32 bit. I have to say its pretty nice
even w/out an added gpu, which is next on my list... I just need to figure out how to turn off all those stupid security scripts. YES ! I want to allow that program to run, YES its ok for it to connect... blah blah blah. Dumbest idea even in an otherwise pretty slick os.
PS - Never knew the JOYS of 22" wide screen until now too - its almost orgasmic :-)
