One of my favorite shows that got cut way too early Jay Mohr's Action is on Hulu, I've been watching the shows and laughing my ass off. Action was great, and way ahead of its time.

The fact that it used a Warren Zevon song as its theme was pretty much enough for me to love it.

I loved that show. It was originally intended for HBO but then FOX picked it up and it didn't catch on right away. Too bad, I think it would have had a "Sex and the City" type run if it had gone to HBO (and there would have been nudity too, maybe even Buddy Hackett).
It's amazing how fast time is going, that show was on in 1999. Now Jay Mohr is playing a divorced dad on a sitcom. Sad.

I just finished watching all the episodes, great show. A note to anyone else who hasn't seen them yet, the later episodes on Hulu are out of order.
On the commentary track or in the Special Features on the DVD, do they say how it was going to end? Was the movie a success? Was the Illeana Douglas character supposed to come back?

Loved the show also, but how long would it have taken to fuck it up like so many other shows:annoyed:execs suck:flush:

The commentary DOES mention that Illeana Douglas no longer wanted to play a whore. She was suddenly "morally against it" and it definitely posed problems for her and her future on the show.
I don't remember much more than that but, I did kinda pick up on the vibe that the producers were less than pleased that Illeana did such a 360.
It some ways... it kinda mirrors Isaac Hayes suddenly having problems with Matt & Trey. Cash the checks... but attempt to take the high ground. Yada yada yoda.

I'm getting / watching this with dvr. It is on IFC and my guess is they will run it over again from start as it's only 1 season. And it seems like a pretty good show.

This was a show that desperately needed to be on cable -- preferably HBO or another premium channel with no content restrictions, but FX or Comedy Central or a similar basic cable network with much more lax content restrictions would have worked too. It just couldn't quite go as far as it needed to on broadcast TV.
