With the deal of Paul Newman, my friend and I were discussing who would be on the Mount Rushmore if it had actors busts on it. I concluded that 3 were absolute locks for me.

I think that's pretty solid. All icons, all great actors. Anyone wanna challenge me on this?

Michael Caine
Jack Lemmon
James Stewart
Gene Hackman

way too many to name just 4.

This is a tough one - going only with actors from my time frame of watching movies

DeNiro
Pacino
Nicholson
Russell Crow/Brad Pitt/Harrison Ford/Depp/DiCaprio

The last spot is a tough one you could make a case for either of the last five

Thats the point.

I love the James Stewart pick. He was right on the cusp for me.

i agree with hammersavage

That's why you'd be on the Mt. Rushmore of .net posters.

And Meryl Streep opens up an entire other discussion. We could include actresses and directors as well but then the decision get really impossible.

Or you could do 1 actor, 1 actress, 1 director, and 1 writer/producer. That's a neverending argument.

I'll glad say that Ingrid Bergman destroys John Wayne. The man was a damned caricature.

John Wayne was not an actor with range, John Wayne played the "persona" of John Wayne in all of his films. This caused him to clearly become a caricature of himself in not only his acting, but in the imagery that the American film public has of him.

The legend of John Wayne the "great actor" is a farce.

You seriously want me to prove my John Wayne chops? Let's put it this way, John Wayne is my dad's favorite actor and I've seen too many of his movies throughout the years. The mere fact that I know what "The Wings of Eagles" is about should tell you everything you need to know.

I'm not listing John Wayne movies as quite frankly it's embarassing how popular he is for the quality of movies he made.

Look im not trying to be a dick im curious as to your answers thats all. As John Wayne was my dads favorite actor as well (we arent brothers are we?) i grew up watching a lot of John Wayne movies as well. Its true he did a specific genre of movies that was popular at the time. However, he made very good movies such as The Searchers, The Quiet Man, Big Jake, The Hell Fighters, the Sands of Iwo Jima (and in all of these movies he played different roles) etc etc that he was very good in

But to call him a farce because he was cast as the leading man in the genre of movies popular at the time is a ridiculous statement. The guy was a hero to generations for the roles he played and the job he did portraying these characters as heroes.

IMO he far and away trumps Sidney Poitier who made a few good movies and you call him a legend?

Jodie Foster's face belongs on the Mt.

Jack Nicholson and his retarded indoor sunglasses, does NOT belong up there. He's not acting. He's not an actor. He's just "Jack". I give him no love.

How does anyone put Pacino over DeNiro? Go movie for movie between the two, it's not even CLOSE.
