It is very interesting the differences between the east coast metros, and the north US. Drinking and Driving is laughed upon and widely accepted by all except the cops. Bars in rural South Dakota will even give you a "to-go cup" if you want to take your drink with you.

I would however not encourage "booze-cruising", as you are not in high-school anymore and will pay for your actions severely.
