Let's see, NL...

Dodgers
Phillies
Cubs
Brewers

AL...

Red Sox
Rays
Twins/White Sox
Angels

What series would you rather watch?

Personally, Dodgers vs. Red Sox with a Torre victory would be fucking sweet as hell. That'd really stick in Hank Steinbrenner's fucking gut.

Other than watching the Cubs and Brewers flop, I couldn't care less about this year's postseason.

Baseball is dead to me until Feb. 28, '09 at noon.

make this a prediction thread or merge into post season thread please

I dont make predictions because Mojo is a harsh mod who treat me worse than Bartman if

A: I predict the Dodgers and the Dodgers Win

B; I predict the Cubs and the Dodgers Win

its a no win situation

Red Sox vs. Brewers.

Sox fan. One of my friends is a Brewers fan, plus they haven't made it since 1982.

I'm only a little biased here, but based on stadiums "alone",

Red Sox vs Cubs.

Although youre right, beating Manny face to face would be cleansingly cool.
But I'm sticking with my choice.

Because I hate the Cubs and the circumstances are too storybook and would lead me to think that the whole thing is fixed.
Fuck the Cubs.

God I hope so. Twins fans will flood Miller Park, and force Selig to retire in shame, both for his family's loss, and for what he tried to do to us in 2002.

Redemption!!

Yeah. It would be great to have a series where the house doesn't fill until halfway through the third inning.

Phils vs. White Sox/Twins

From a strategic standpoint, it's the best shot at winning a World Series.

but to be the best, you have to beat the best. it would seem a little cheap to beat a team who overachieved or got lucky rather than beating the team that really is the best. It's hard to say who that really is in the AL though: although the Angels locked it up weeks ago, they are in a very weak division, possibly the weakest in all of baseball (though the AL central is pretty weak also, along with the NL west). With 62 saves, as amazing as that number is, that number tells me that they play a lot of very close games. If the Angels are that good, you'd think they'd dominate such a weak division and that more of their wins would be by more than 3 runs.
Meanwhile, in the East, the Tampa Bay juggernaut continues to roll. They made it interesting down the stretch, but you have to give them props for dominating what is easily the toughest division in the AL and probably all baseball. For the Phillies to be considered the best, I think they'd have to beat Tampa. That is the matchup that will tell the tale. The Angels are extremely good, don't get me wrong, and they would certainly provide a valid test for any NL team they'd face in the World Series, but the Rays are in a tougher division. They remind me of the '93 Phillies; a bunch of upstarts who nobody took seriously in April and who continued to surprise all season.
I just hope the Rays meet the same fate as those '93 Phillies against the '08 Phillies.

Personally, I think the Cubs vs. anyone blasts both of those out of the water ratings-wise. The Red Sox may claim a "Nation," but the Cubs have an entire generation who grew up watching Cubs' games on WGN around the country.

Oh, without a doubt. Imagine the FOX hype for the Cubs: Last time the Cubs won a series was 1908 (100 years ago). The last time they played a World Series against Boston was 1918 (90 years ago). That began Boston's 86-year drought -- could it end the Cubs'? It'll be sickening....

I mentioned the Phils because of their drought (1980) and because Boston beat them in 1915 so there is that history there. Also, the Dodgers have gone since 1988 and the LA market will draw some ratings. Oh, and the Sox beat the then-Brooklyn Robins (later Brooklyn/LA Dodgers) in 1916 in the WS.

The top 10 most profitable World Series matchups for FOX would be:

1) Cubs/Red Sox
2) Cubs/Angels
3) Cubs/White Sox
4) Dodgers/Red Sox
5) Phillies/Red Sox
6) Dodgers/Angels
7) Phillies/Angels
8) Phillies/White Sox
9) Dodgers/White Sox
10) Brewers/Red Sox

The worst would be anyone but the Cubs against the Rays or Twins.

I think the Twins and definitely the Rays draw more than the White Sox. Don't forget how wretched the ratings were for the 2005 WS...worst of all time by far. You can't blame that all on the Astros.

My dummy uncle is a Red Sox fan, and to go up against them and beat them would give me great joy-I'd be speed-dialing him everytime Cole gets a K.
