House of 1000 Corpses

I decided it was a good idea to begin watching this at 11:30pm one night alone while my wife & daughter were out of town. I actually checked all the doors and windows to make sure they were locked before I went to bed. I have a very high tolerance for scary shit but there was just something about this movie that freaked me out.

"I Spit on Your Grave" is a fuuuuuuucked up movie
Sophisticated New York magazine writer Jennifer Hills (played by Camille Keaton) is writing a book, and decides that the only way she can finish it is to go to a log cabin in the country, where she will not be disturbed.

Three local men, two ne'er do wells and a gas station manager, are disturbed by Jennifer's independence. Late at night they hatch a plan to abduct her, apparently so their mildly-retarded friend Matthew can lose his virginity. The next day, while the young woman is relaxing in her boat, the men surprise her by tying a rope to the boat and towing her to shore. Jennifer fights but is chased by the men through the forest. They capture and brutally sodomize and rape her. After she crawls back to her house they attack her again. Matthew finally rapes her after drinking alcohol, but says that he can not climax with the other men watching. While she is being tortured, the other men ridicule her book and rip up the manuscript. As she passes out, the men order Matthew to stab her in the heart, and then leave. Matthew cannot bring himself to do this, and dabs the knife lightly in her blood so it looks as if he killed her.

In the following days, Jennifer is shown traumatized by the gang rape. Slowly, she pieces both herself and her manuscript back together. It becomes evident that she is intent on revenge, and she vows to kill the men who raped her.

First, she lures Matthew back to her cabin and entices him to have sex with her under a tree. As he becomes oblivious to the surroundings around him, she strings a noose around his neck and hangs him. She then cuts the rope and drops the body in the river.

She picks up one of the men at the gas station where he works. She stops halfway to her house and turns a gun on him. She orders him to take off all his clothes. He gets the gun from her and she takes him to her cabin for a hot bath. She manually stimulates him in her bathtub. As he nears orgasm, she picks up a knife she has hidden under the bathmat and cuts his genitals. Calmly, she leaves the room and locks him in from the outside. He dies due to blood loss and she disposes of him in her basement. She burns his blood-stained clothes in her fireplace.

The two remaining men take their motorized boat to Jennifer's cabin, with an axe in hand. As they attack her, she escapes with the boat and the axe. The two men swim after her, so she turns around and swings the axe into one man's back. The other man swims up, grabs hold of the motor, and asks Jennifer not to kill him and even apologizes for raping her and tries in vain to ask for forgiveness. She revs the motor, disemboweling him. As she speeds away, the credits roll.

"Oldboy" is also fucked up but in a totally different way.

I saw Irreversible and was left feeling like I had post traumatic stress syndrome! I was disturbed for days, and still picture parts of the film and get a sick feeling. It was so brutal and realistic with a horrible rape scene that goes on and on.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer bothered me as well. There's a scene where he's videotaping the raping & killing of a wife and husband and their teenage son walks in and tries to scramble away but then gets stabbed to death himself. I think the worst thing about this one was it looked so REAL with the fuzzy videotaped look

The older I get the less I can stomach these kind of realistic sick movies.

Not a fan of Inferno? I'll agree that it's not as good as Suspiria but the scene with the rats was all kinds of disturbing.

The worst for me would be Cannibal Holocaust. It would be a gory, disturbing film on hits own but what really puts it over the top was that there are a half dozen scenes of animals being tortured and/or being killed for the film. Imagine the end of Apocalypse Now only longer, sleazier and more brutal. There was also file footage of people being executed that is reportedly real.

Not the most disturbing ever maybe, but Jacob's Ladder and Eraserhead freaked me the fuck out when I was a kid. For most gory it would probably be the Peter Jackson pairing of Dead Alive/Bad Taste, or maybe Re-Animator.

Just about every movie Takashi Miike has done, except maybe that piece of shit "One Missed Call" (and anything else of his I haven't seen). Ichi The Killer, Gozu, Visitor Q, Audition, The Happiness of The Katakuris (well, that one was more weird than disturbing). Good stuff, if you're into violence, weirdness & body fluids.

No, not a big fan. It's stylistically inferior to Suspiria, and Mother of Tears was fantastic. But there was one death in Inferno that sticks out. It's when the witch has the girl in the window or something and she closes it onto her throat. Just gross.

The problem is, once you find really fucked up Hardcore Pornography, those movies don't shock anymore. Go to www.xhamster.com and just watching pissing videos and shitting videos and ball torture or whatever, that shit is way more disturbing and unsettling than any movie that needs to have a plot

So "Salo" magically showed up in a folder on my desktop. I watched it by fast forwarding through because it wasn't subtitled and I don't speak italian. It was decently fucked up, but because of the language barrier I didn't quite get the gist. Any interpretations? Why were the 4 gentleman so sadistic? Who were their broads and why did they enjoy watching these acts of barbarism? I understand the underlying themes of inhumanity and sickness, but I missed a lot of plot details.

read the book by Marquis De Sale. I read it...its quite interesting. Its a quick read because the last half wasn't finished..he wrote it in prison and the last half is more of an outline rather than a story. Pick it up, u'll be creeped out

You shouldn't have turned off Ichii the Killer..i saw that and all the gory (what i would consider) "cool" stuff happens in the first half..then the rest of it is just a borefest

There was another japanese movie, was it "Audition"?..it was the opposite of Ichii the Killer where it was a boring movie until the end where it got really gory and cool

Its way better to start off slow and end with a bang than start off with a bang and peter off.

But i can't watch japanese movies because I can never tell the difference between the actors. I'm like "is that the same actor but in old man makeup or a different guy". Whether thats racist or not, whatever, but its true, i just can't watch 'em

The 28th. 133. He cuts off both hands at the wrist and cauterizes the wounds with a hot iron.

134. HE removes the tongue, cutting it at the roots, and cauterizes it with a hot iron.

Has anyone ever seen August Underground: Modrum? It's an ultra low budget simulated snuff film and I could only stand about 3 minutes. I watched until a girl grabbed a razor, started cutting her stomach (which was likely real) and telling her brother to jerk off on to her wound. I looked online and saw that the rest of the film featured people eating live maggots, stomach wound raping, vomiting on each other and the rare necrophilia/pedophilia combo. I probably tapped out at the right time.

It was because of this movie that David Lynch almost directed Empire Strikes back.

The circumstances of Pasolini's murder have never been explained, and there's multiple stories. That's one, but there are also stories that he was killed for his far left-wing politics, for insulting Mussolini's legacy, that it was a Mafia hit, and even that it was just a random robbery. But no one really knows.

You have nothing to worry about with Gummo. Especially if your top 10 includes "I Spit on Your Grave" and "Cannibal Holocaust".
It's a loose plot and there's some weirdness, but not on the level compared to these others.
If you end up enjoying it (I actually did), then see "Julien Donkey Boy" -Korines follow up.

Three films from Alejandro Jodorowsky:

1. El Topo
2. The Holy Mountain
3. Santa Sangre

All three of these films are disturbing,
weird, and gory, but are also extremely
well made.

The Italians made a lot of great gore films
in the 70's and 80's. Burial Ground-Night of
Terror is not great, but the last scene, where a zombie
teenage boy bites his mother's tit off after she tries to
breast-feed him, is classic.

I was more comfortable with the turtle being ripped up in Cannibal Holocaust than the rednecks in Gummo. It was a good movie, however.

I have a good story about the Peter Jackson directed "Dead Alive". The scene where let's just say people are eating soup, I was watching with like eight or nine other people, and literally there was something in this sequence that made all eight or nine of us either dry heave/gag/or puke. "Rich and creamy, just the way I like it."

I bumped this thread because I finally saw "Aftermath" by Nacho Cerda since Netflix just added it for "Watch Instantly". It's definitely up there with many of the movies listed in this thread. I'd read that real corpses were used in the filming, and it seems like at least some of the corpses were real. But the movie itself seemed little more than a sight-shock film, not much of a story. The clumsy attempt at an ironic ending didn't really impress me, although the sterility of the medical examiner's apartment was kind of interesting. I did notice that the sound was pretty remarkable for a short film from 1994. Watch it if you like necrophilia.
