I have to agree with Katja. I put together the front page comparison pictures every week, and I'm consistently amazed at the inconsistency of these shots. No effort is being made to match the lighting or the background color and texture.

The pictures come forwarded to me from Earls email address, so I assume he's the one taking them. But the quality of the pix make it look like he's using a cellphone camera - whatever happened to that great digital camera he stole from the show?

I believe it has been mentioned before, but what retarded jackass is taking these pictures? The lighting generally blows and there is no consistency week to week; ideally we should be able to create a makeshift time lapse animation of the beards growing.

Of course I don't expect perfection, but how about a lower degree of suckage? But that would also take a little bit of planning and interest in quality work on the part of the staff.

ok, I looked at where they take these pix and the problem is that there is lighting right above them which does not show the beard well, unless they use a flash or fill light.

check the exif data and you will see what he (who takes them) uses. you will see that in the darker ones no flash was fired. If the image was taken without a tripod it will be more blurry cause at lower light the shutter speed changes and the aperture is larger... leaving more room for blur from the subject moving as well as motion of the person who is taking the image.
