I posted the thread precisely because of my disgust with their ad campaigns....as we all know, banks (and other financial institutions) are collapsing all around us.

While i have sincere concern for anyone with money held by WaMu and for our country as a whole (for a litany of reasons) I was just pleased to see that these clowns got theirs.

Speaking from a branding POV, because the WaMU name has been tainted in failure, I have no doubt that it'll become Chase.

And for what it's worth, Chase has a bank card that you open an account and get 25,000 FF miles just for opening it up. And it's a checking card, not a credit card.

Now I get miles for stuff I have to pay for anyway, like utilities, cable, and phone.

Chase's fuckup a few years ago, caused me to get reported to Chexsystems, even though their mistake was fixed. They wouldn't remove it! I went through hell trying to get a checking account for years because of it.

Every bill we get goes to AMEX Plat for reward points , I'm already swimming in hotel points from work, and the AMEX plat give you 4 free companion airfares a year, so Jeff and I have a total of 8 to use.

I need a bank with really, really good online banking/bill pay. We have 6 accounts + business accounts that money is transferred back and forth to.

It's already happened. I don't even bank at WaMu but I checked their website the next morning after everything and it said "Welcome to Chase" and their FAQ states everything will be converted to the Chase logo, cards, branches, statements, etc. Those fuckers are quick.

What I want to know is, as it says in those ads about free checking and no fees for things for life and all the people that signed up accounts for that reason. I'm sure all those free things WaMu did are now done. What will they do now? Will those folks jump ship on the bank? Personally I do not like Chase at all. I have a credit card with them but rarely ever use it. I would never bank with them, I have had enough bad experiences with just their credit card folks to dislike them.

I have an existing account with wamu that my tenants deposit into, no problem, FDIC insured. I also have had stock in the company for around 15 years, bought in under 2k when they decided to expand. It grew quite a bit for some time, but tanked very quickly.
