just to clarify, xm subscribers will continue to be able to hear it on 202 and once xm is phased out they will not have to pay the few bucks extra to hear them, right???
I kinda thought that with the merger I could save some bucks all together by just selecting a few from the earlier proposed a la carte programming.

when does the 14 day delay on XM start?
It will be a gradual process, like how they build up the delay on terrestrial radio after they run out of dump. Starting tomorrow, the show will be played at a slightly slower speed so that only 3/4 of the show will air during the three hour show. It most likely won't be noticeable unless you're looking for it. After tomorrow there will be 1/4 of the show that didn't air, and they will just air that at the beginning of Friday's show. At the end of 3 hours on Friday there will be 1/2 of a show that doesn't air that will be aired on Monday. Each day they get behind another 1/4 of a show. Eventually, after 40 shows, when they will be behind exactly two weeks of shows. At that point they'll go back to playing the show at the regular speed.

I am not quite sure I understand how that helps the gradual move... why wouldn't they just move it all together at once or play it on both medias until one gets phased out.

On the same day.
Here's what they're keeping secret about this: we'll be getting Stern live on XM, and his Sirius listeners will be getting him on a 14-16 day delay. I guess it's time to encode the streams between the satellites or something. So I guess it kind of balances out.

I used to work on satellite communication equipment. The thing is, with the current technology, the show has to be uplinked to the XM and Sirius sats in real time - that's the only way that Sirius can get it live. The delay will actually occur at the XM satellites due to changes in the codec scripts. If you have an Inno I think there's a way to change the date, so you can probably fool the unit into thinking it's two weeks later than it really is. You might be able to get the show live that way.
