View Full Version : Vietnamese Food Appreciation Thread
Ever since I was in Hanoi a couple of months ago, I have really become a fan of Vietnamese food. I even find myself liking it more than Chinese food. The sauces seem lighter and not overpowering, the vegetables and meats taste more flavorful, and the food is more filling. I'm a horribly picky eater, so I don't like everything and sometimes I pick around things I order, but I've found some really great dishes I have become a fan of.
Any other Vietnamese food fans? And if so, any recommendations for places to try?

I agree. Nothing is better than a nice Vietnamese soup.
Have you tried a Vietnamese sub?

Vietnam Georgetown On M Street Is Really Good. I haven't Been There In A While, But I Assume It's Still There
Pho is OK. I just pick around the onions and mint leaves though.
No, I haven't tried the sub but I have heard good things.

Malayasian food is my favorite, but you can't really find it over here. Laksa, FTW.

Banh Mi is awesome, minus the head cheese thank you. I love most Vietnamese food. Their beer, however, leaves a lot to be desired.

We had a Vietnemese family running a "Chinese" restaurant in the town where I grew up. As far as I knew, that was Chinese food--until I got to college and branched out. I'm with you, though, Vietnemese is much better. Maybe it was the bow wow sauce. (Sorry, I had to, it's in my contract.)
