T Mobile I guess will be the first to carry the G Phone. Is anyone interested in this? Speculations? Abilities beyond iPhone and Bold?

T-Mobile is going to put a 1GB/month cap on its G3 service, which is really shitty anyway.
I just checked my iPhone's bill. I used about 1.5 GB of G3 data last month. I use my iPhone to follow the listening threads since work blocks RF.net, and I listen to streaming audio maybe a half hour a day while I'm driving around. So that cap will be a serious problem for anyone who gets one of these things.

i put a port of android on my sprint touch....it looks like it has promise for a touch screen style phone. I am really looking forward to android really taking off.
The coolest thing about android is that it is open source. It will be ported to any phone that can run linux (win mobile phones can,) and it can be used on phones we all own already.

i think i read that its %25 for unlimited web and limited texts, $35 for unlimited both. how does that compare to iphone?

Here's a copy of the TOS.
You're not shut off at 1GB, but it does appear you are throttled down to 50kbps, and you are subject to suspension.

Seems like it has some good features, but it feels like they're just following the iPhone instead of leading the way.

I use gmail constantly on my iphone. ?
The difference is the G1 has Gmail PUSH.
I lost a lot of interest in this phone when I found out these issues:
- No stereo bluetooth
- Bluetooth API not available to developers (no 3rd party applications will be able to use bluetooth)
- T-Mobile's 1GB 3G cap
- No standard headphone jack (must use the HTC "extended" mini-usb headphones or an adapter to use standard headphones)

What would the difference be between Gmail Push and using Gmail with IMAP ?

Well it depends on what type of IMAP google is offering these days. If it's Push-IMAP then nothing really... Other than I don't think contacts & calendar are synched over IMAP.

t mobile is the cheapest internet platform and with wi-fi integrated into it, the phone would be a great internet platform
which somewhat negates the 1g for 3g cap(which i still cant find anywhere)
this will be a great overall platform when it eventually gets developed to the next step
which it will
and soon
but i hate my phone to the point where its prob not healthy anymore so im going to make the switch
i don't use bluetooth and prob never will so that doesn't apply to me
