I am sitting here watching them crash cars into a rubber moose crash test dummy and it makes me laugh my ass off.
I would love to work with these guys testing all kinds of cool shit.

These kinds of shows just make you want to spout off what you have learned too. The girls i work with just can't believe some of the stuff i know, and most of it I learned from shows like these. Then again, they watch shows like America's Top Model, and I can't take that kind of shit.
Mythbusters is great!!! They're in studio spot and call-in to O&A were really good.

I love Kari Byron. The rest of the show, however, has been running out of steam the past couple of seasons.

The last few shows it has been getting better. It did get stupid for a while there. The best ones are when they return to their roots.

I actually like that girl with that tattoos--Sammie--better, but she hasn't been on the tv portions for a couple of years. I think she still works for the show, though.

Maybe someone can back me up here but the one experiment that blew my mind was whether or not a bullet could kill you if you are underwater. As if someone was shooting at you, and you jumped in a river or a pool, would a bullet pierce the water and hit you.
They shot bullets into a pool and all of them shattered once they hit the water. Even a 50 caliber! So whenever you see someone get shot like that in a movie, it can't really happen. The water stops the bullet.
Am I right on this one? I'm pretty sure that's what I saw but when I bring it up no one believes me.

Not all of them... only the high speed rounds shattered in less than 3 feet of water, but slower rounds, like .22, 9mm, .38, .45 pistol rounds, needed up to 8 feet of water to slow to non-lethal speeds. Shotgun slugs could penetrate even further before reaching non-lethal speed. They tried testing by shooting straight down, but realized that most water-bound shots would be fired from an angle, and they found that you would need less actual depth to be safe... just a little more distance.
I've got two boys, and I've Tivo'ed (is that a word yet?) every episode since the show began. I was hooked when they first made a mold of Kari's ass in once of the first one's ever! (Airline Toilet Seat, or something like that if you want to find a youtube)

Here ya go. Kari was still a "behind the scenes" person then. Scottie was the main "on screen" build chick back then.

I think they also said that the concussion that the bullet makes when entering the water may cause more harm than being struck by the bullet.
edit: That was the fish in the barrel episode. Maybe it was the same episode too, I can't remember.

Very similar. If you see the beginning of the 'shooting into water' episode they start by firing guns into a vertical Plexiglas chamber that was something like 10-12 feet tall. The shockwave of one of the first few shots cracked the bottom of the tank and they got water all over the workshop. That's one of the reasons they went to the pool.

I love everyone's reaction's on the show when the blow things up. Which is almost every episode. But I could watch them blow up things for an entire season. It's fun.
One of the funniest ones was this season a couple of weeks ago, when they were seeing if an exploding fire extinguisher could put out a fire. During one of the tests, they didn't know how long it would be before it exploded so they started playing charades. Right after Tory was saying "Sounds like", the entire thing exploded. It was rather amusing to me.

A couple of weeks ago they were testing the myth of an exploding hot water tank, holy shit, I laughed my ass off when that thing took off into outer space like a rocket. Then when they built the little house and the tank completely blew it to smithereens was awesome. Adam is like a little kid, getting all fidgety and impatient then all of a sudden BOOM, and he's giggling like a 5 year old.

From a stage show Adam and Jaime did for Nvidia.
Fun with Paintball Shooting Robots!
(It's about 9½ minutes long, but the last stunt is worth the wait. Especially the slo-motion replay)

The B team seems to try to hard to be funny, and brings the rest of the show down. Especially Torry.
The show's definitely running out of ideas when they spent half the show testing "Deep Blue Sea" for scientific accuracy.
Still, it's better than 90% of what's on TV (and 99.99% of anything reality-based).

I was watching the one about the Yellowpages the other day and was wondering if it could be possible to make a ladder to escape a burning library that way.
