Didn't see a thread about this yet, so, here's my mini-review. I managed to get a copy of this early, and boy am I fucking glad I did. It is beyond awesome. Combat & force powers are fantastic; the graphics are amazing, there's a good range of difficulty and not only that, there's a decent story to it also. The physics and the engine that they used are pretty solid too.
Plus, the character models are really good.

I played the demo, and decided to buy Oblivion instead. If it gets good reviews, I might pick it up later.

I am very excited for this game. It looks awsome! I can't wait to play as Vader in the first level with all of the force powers.

I played the demo and enjoyed it, but all the reviews are pretty much 7 to 7.5 out of 10.

I just saw the promo tonight, what are the powers they are offering? Are they more exciting than the SNES ones? Cause those are great, but I'm assuming this is more force-centric in terms of game play.

So far all I know about the powers foghat are abilities like crushing objects, moving large pieces of the scenery to crash into enemies, and sending a "force push" like a tidal wave through Indonesia!

Picking up a TIE Fighter is nice, trying to aim it isn't.
I'm actually going to be getting the wii version. Unfortunetly I don't have a ps3 or 360 but I heard that the wii version might actually be a better amd more enjoyable gameplay experience overall.

Judging by every other game that has had that hype, prepare to be disappointed.

Much better. But there is a lot of lightsaber combat. You can actually mix your lightsaber combos along with your force powers.

Last night made me laugh very hard because there's this achievement called "Worst Day Manager Ever". You have to kill 12 stormtroopers with Vader. Fucking hysterical.

The combos you have to hit when fighting "bosses" to defeat them is annoying as hell. It kinda' takes you out of the game trying to mash the right buttons when they are highlighted.
Other than that great game. I loved the 1st level with Vader just marching through the Storm Trooper/Wookie battle and hurling 10 foot tall Wookies at each other.

Is this worth purchasing for the Wii? I read a review that was mostly favorable, except they said that the graphics at times were jarring.
I'm a big Star Wars game fan (loved Jedi Academy, etc.), and would love to try this game wtih the Wii but don't want to be frustrated with it.

The best way to do describe it is ninja gaiden with the force and a lightsaber. And it's only toward the end where it matters (as far as the outcome).

Still doesn't sound like a bad game. I'm kind of surprised it was scored so low because a lot of people seem to be really enjoying it.

Beat it late Friday night. The game is glitchy as fuck. At one point I fell into an object and couldn't get out.
For the last couple of levels, the game wasn't tracking my force points and the secondary mission was listed as "* Default Text".
Otherwise it was ok. I started playing again at the hardest level for the heck of it and to gain extra achievements. Standing on a bridge and flinging 200 wookies around was amusing for a while...

Force Unleashed The Movie? (http://io9.com/5054345/force-unleashed-the-movie)
The game's project leader, Haden Blackmen told the Los Angeles Times’ Hero Complex blog that the possibility of a Force Unleashed flick isn't a completely left field idea:
And it’s not impossible. Never say never. George [Lucas] has looked to tell new ‘Star Wars’ stories through the games and with the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe, and then he has also shown a willingness to let the characters come into the films. Look at Aayla Secura, a creation in the comic books who became part of the theatrical films.
Pure speculation... but the article had a cool picture I wanted to post.

i read 'the force unleashed' the novel, and i dont think it would make a good movie at all. the plot follows the levels of the game, so it starts off with vadar telling the kid, go kill this jedi, then, this next jedi will be much harder, then the apprentice levels up, and vadar says, now i have a stronger jedi for you to kill.
great plot for a video game, crap for a movie or book

New Content Coming to Force Unleashed
Skywalker, Kenobi and friends will be playable thanks to an upcoming download.
by Ryan Geddes
September 30, 2008 - Can't get enough of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed? LucasArts has you covered. The latest addition to the Star Wars universe will see two rounds of downloadable content before the end of the year on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network.
The first available download will feature additional costumes and character models for use in the single-player campaign, including Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Kit Fisto. The second round, due later this year, will include a new single-player mission, set in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. The Secret Apprentice turns to the Jedi Temple to learn more about his father, and "while searching through the rubble of the destroyed building he must confront his inner demons," LucasArts said in a news release announcing the upcoming content.
The company hasn't announced pricing or timing yet for the two downloads.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed tells the story of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice and has become a huge hit for LucasArts, selling more than 1.5 million copies worldwide in its first week on the market.

The only two good star wars games to have ever been made was Super Star Wars (SNES) and Jedi Knight II. I never played Tie Fighter, but they say it's good. That's about it. I can't be bothered with this kiddy franchise any longer. The last 3 movies have made the franchise an embarrassment akin to Madonna.

Jedi Academy was just a retarded version of Jedi Knight II with really really awful storyline (for a Star Wars title- should tell ya how bad it is). I don't credit a game that basically clones a previous title. I can't judge the other two since I never played 'em.

the reviews i've read have mostly had it at a mediocre/average rating, so that kind of put me off. but i checked eBay and got a copy for $13.
personally, i found it really fun from start to finish. not that anyone's going to make their decision off of what i think, but dont always base your opinion on what other people rate something.
best SW game since Shadows of the Empire.
I've never played Jedi Academy. might have to check that one out as well apparently.
