Def. the Cannon. I LOVE cannon camera's. I have an earlier version of that model and love it. it takes great pictures and also can take a beating

canon's tend to have the best out of box picture quality ie, you just buy the camera and shoot with it.
most realistic colors as well.
check out dpreview, they may have better info.

yeah, I gotta say Canon also.
I have one of their earlier SLRs, the 10D and have taken 20K + pictures with no problems. I just picked up the SD890 and it's very good for a point and shoot. I actually was going to buy the SD1100 first but wanted the 5X optical zoom.
My experience with the one Nikon digital I had about 5 years ago wasn't great. The camera was reliable, but the not that well engineered.

If it were me I would go for the Canon, Nikon is excellent but Canon has better optics imho.
