Wow. What a shit episode. Evan Rachel Wood is like the fucking high school play version of a vampire queen. Really badly acted.

Highlights were every scene with Eric, Sookie entering the house with sink-man and floor-creep, and Carl getting capped. On the other hand, Lafayette getting turned, Tara getting re-turned, and Lettie Mae turning on Sookie and Lafayette were so telegraphed it was painful to watch. I'm strongly looking forward to a fresh start next season. As it is I'll be watching the finale only out of a need to see the story play out instead of actual enjoyment.

It seems like there are no mediocre episodes. Only the really good and shit the bed bad.

I liked the episode. The only thing that worries me...THE EGG..wtf is with that. I also did not like that Carl just gets shot and dies. I really thought he was going to be the god or more involved. They are building up and building up. They better have one hell of a ending.

2 weeks and 1 more episode left. Shit The Wife will be away on that Sunday..2 weeks and 1 day.

Wonder if the women liked Eric in the dress...did not do much for me.

For all those that are wondering about Sookie and her "new" power, I'm guessing you guys don't recall the very first episode.

Remember when Bill was being attacked by those two people that wanted to harvest his blood? When Sookie came out, she grabbed the guy and threw him through the air with some sort of supernatural strength. It's obvious she has some underlying powers that she is unaware of so I doubt this flash of light is anything new picked up from Maryanne's attack.

I think you got a little confused, Sookie used a chain like it was a whip and wrapped it around the guys throat...kind of amazing Bill and herself at the time.

Sookies a supernatural, not just a telepath. Im interested to see how far they go in explaining what she really is.

His death had nothing to do with the ceremony or sacrifice but he's gone. That's all that matters and like Bob said, no werewolves.

Something will be off with Sam's parents and Jason will have the murder on his conscious. I'll reserve judgment until next season.

I loved the image of the bullgod gutting mary anne then sam holding her heart. I wish that was the last thing we saw on the show. eggs had too long a neck to be respected as an actor. I like the potential for a blood crazed jessica run wild. i wonder why the queen wants lafayette to sell blood but could care less that bill has been captured.

They couldn't do it months ago because it wouldn't have worked. Belief made her invincible, as the queen said. She became vulnerable when she thought it was her god goring her and not Sam (even if it was obvious it was him).

I think that she meant that she didn't know whether it was possible to kill Maryann that way. They wrote it that way to create suspense as to whether she could ever be defeated, not that she could have been killed earlier.

In the end, the fact that she died the way she did proved the Queen right.

That makes sense, haven't gotten to that book yet but Eric can still be behind it. Eric is the one that called his maker to Dallas and the queen told Eric to take care of Bill so this is his way of keeping his hands clean. But I know she was bitter too so Eric may have nothing to do with it but I doubt it because of his infatuation with Sookie.

That's pretty much where it ends in the book, although somewhat differently. The Dallas story arc was the majority of it, and then they just sortof pop in to resolve the maenad thing really really quickly. All the books are pretty much like that, some aspect of the story is resolved in a page at the very end.

The show has the uncommon trouble of having to invent and embelish a bunch of stuff for content, instead of having to cut a bunch out like adaptations usually do.

The MaryAnne story arc really drug ass for me.

I thought it was a great first episode. I like where they are going with things. I really thought the whole werewolf thing was going to be too much, but I like what looks like it is planned.

Just one complaint about the episode....Almost way too gay..funny..but gay.

what I gathered was that since it was still technically Bill's house she didn't need to be invited in because vampires don't need to be invited in to other vampire's houses as explained by Franklin when he walked into Bill's house and Jessica called him out on it.

Ever since Bill threw that fire lamp at her I keep thinking they will do a flashback and show us that Bill is just thinking these actions not doing them. That Snooki scene with all the dancing fairies and bullshit literally made me say out loud, "what the fuck am I watching?" Even with all the shirtless men and dudes kissing...that may have been the gayest thing on the show so far.

This season has been a tough watch. They're teetering on M Night Shymalan bad at this point.

Yeah, there were a couple of naked chicks, but they were mostly in the background. The least they could've done is have the fairy that was talking to Snookie be naked.

Ive been pretty happy with the season so far. I mean at this point, Ive come to realize the writers like to get you completely lost by halfway through the season, then have it all come together to wrap it up by the end.

I love the King Vampire. That guy plays an excellent role. Im not sure what they will be, but from looking up some history Im still expecting new supernatural creatures, so that doesnt bother me.

Eric, Lafayette, and Jason have all been awesome this year.

And Jessica is the hottest chick on the show BY FAR.

They could do with a little less of the man love though. And theyve gotta stop making that guy Alcide such a pussy. Hes a big mother and a werewolf. He needs to seriously fuck somebody up.

There are a few funny things with the man on man action though. First, people need to remember the show is from Alan Ball, who I'm pretty sure is super gay. Alienation and deviance are pretty major themes. In part they're aspiring to be trashy, cheap thrills eye candy and you have a lot of women that watch the show.

Also, vampires would be gay. You play up this extreme passion and hedonism in them so ofcourse they're going to be sticking it everywhere. Plus, the older ones would've come from a time, or lived through times, when homosexuality was a completely different concept and dude romping wasn't such a big deal.

For example, in the most recent book you learn that Eric's maker was a Roman who liked Northern Europeans and he started his life as a boytoy.

I have watched most of the shows, but I am lost on the hierarchy of the vampires.
How does the vampire king, vampire queen, and magistrate rank in relation to each other?
Who is the most powerful vampire they have showed so far? Does each state or region have a vampire king equal to Russel?

Kings and Queens are like governors of states, sherrifs are like mayors although they cover areas larger than a city. It is implied that the magister is an agent of some greater ruling council so he is imbued with a power above the kings and queens. So technically the magister is the most influential vampire they've shown. The kings and queens can marry or take eachother over to consolidate power and financial resources. Sophie Anne was in a financially week position because of taxes and katrina which leads to political trouble in both the series and the books.

I think Eric tells Sookie that there are 4 greater regions in the country that contain various states, so theres probably one level above the kings/queens.

I have been watching the show and liking it, even with all the gay sex. The end of the Eric/Talbert(sp?) sex scene got me thinking (aside from the gay vampire sex) and then the Jason using wooden bullets scene made me think about it again:

What happens if a vampire gets a splinter?

If you jam a wooden stake into a vampire they explode into a bloody, gooey mess, if you shoot them with a wooden bullet, same thing. What if they step on a broken wooden floor and it breaks their skin or get a splinter when using a hand rail? Is there a certain amount of wood that will kill a vampire? No one has ever tried to stake me or shoot me with any bullet, wooden, silver or lead; but I have had small pieces of wood break my skin before. If I were a vampire would I have accidentally killed myself because someone didn't properly sand some furniture?

It's not like silver, there is wood all over the place. Vampires cannot avoid wood in some form for too long and some of these dudes have been around for thousands of years when even more items were made of wood. Has there ever been a vampire carpenter?

Every time the writers of this series have written themselves into a corner, they add a new creature to the mess. Before it's over I fully expect them all to be riding unicorns.
