The cardinal rule of sports injuries is that you never celebrate them because you never know if they'll play again, hell, even walk again.

That being said, Tom Brady's won three rings, is a millionaire, and fucks an honest to god supermodel.

You know, I can understand you guys being upset, BUT YOU HAVE THREE FUCKING RINGS ALREADY and almost had a fourth if it wasn't for Manning-to-Tyree.

Even if Brady doesn't play another down of football for the rest of the season you're still in the five-year honeymoon period from the last win.

How about the Jets fans, who came oh-so-close in the AFC game, and then Vinny went down in the first game of the season the next year? THAT'S awfulness.

I thought they should have had him in to compete with Cassel(Who happens to have graduated from the same year and HS of my soft west-coast brother-in-law) before Like was said before this team is going to have to go back to winning circa 2001-2

It was brought out on one of the local post game shows that he's already filed his retirement papers with the league. And that the team would probably not want to waste time with a guy who basically had a public temper tantrum that he wasn't picked up this year. I'm thinking that it will be simms in here to challenge and be at least a backup. (there was talk of Huard coming in to vy for the backup, but with Croyle getting dinged and the price he would now entail I don't see that happening.)

The retirement papers mean nothing. Just because you sign the retirement papers doesn't mean you're done, it's basically for the player's association and Hall of Fame countdown.

As Favre showed, going from "retired" to "reinstated" takes about 4 business days, if that.

Nah they would say that if it were Manning or Fravrahahamajala too. Anytime an elite offensive player goes down it is bad for the league. Also I don't get the ESPN love teh pAtS crap.

The Homers at ESPN now have something to talk constantly about. On the radio side some talking head sitting in for Mike and Mike just gave us this bit of radio gold

"I need to take a pause here, Its very sad."

SAD? Why sad? Because its Tom Brady? Players get injured every game but its somehow sad because its Tom Brady of The NE Patriots? (Vinnie Testaverde anyone)
Please.
Stop already

No one wants to see the best players in the game get knocked out for a season at the prime of their career. It would be like if Manning went down for a season or if Favre had when he was younger.

Hate to disagree but not everyone think that the perfect franchise Patriots are a sympathetic story. The Boston mentality that everything NE is terrific and everyone agrees is a myth propagated by ESPN
Jets Fans are happy to see Mr Smug Bellichick have to swallow this one. (I resign as HC of the NYJ). This isn't life threatening its a knee he will come back next year. Hopefully having lost a little zip on his passes.

No one is saying that people are saying that because he is out the NFL loses out on marquee match ups. The NFL was looking forward to promoting Favre V Brady/ NY V NE as a big match up. The NFL is a business and NE is a marquee team. It's like the MLB this year they are very pissed that they won't have the Yanks this October it's bad for business

I hate the Colts. I still wouldn't want to beat the Colts without Manning.

And I'm fully aware that most people despise the Patriots. I just don't understand supposed fans of the game wanting a sub satisfactory product.

Also, I enjoy how the Jets "fans" hold a grudge against Bellichick, and not the guy who actually forced him out of NY.

Oh Jets fans hold a special place in hell for "The man in the mirror"
It doesn't make me a supposed fan because I disagree with your opinion. the sub satifactory product is the nature of game. Injuries are part of it and this time it happened to Brady now you have to see how they handle it Do they have depth to overcome injury.
I doubt you can say honestly that you felt bad last year when the SD Chargers had their injuries as the playoffs began that NEs were disappointed

Come on

why...injury is part of the game...this way of thinking just lets the patriots fan have an excuse when they finish 8-8

i cant wait to see how many times i hear the "yeah they lost...but but we dont have brady..." excuse

Stop, this would make sense if it was a playoff game, or a Monday night game, but not a week 2 regional game. If Brady got injured in Week 10, and there was a lot of buildup, I could see the problem. And even then, you don't know what's going to happen (Simms/Hoss, anyone?)

Nobody cares about the Jets outside of the NY Metro. They have always been seen as a substandard team. That's the way Jets fans like it.

And as for MLB, the Mets, Cubs, and Red Sox are in. I think they'll survive a year of the Yankees not being in.

I'm still scratching my head on going for 2 after Favre recreated Manning-to-Tyree. I mean, *I* could hit a PAT. And even with Brett Favre, having someone like Clemens try to kick for a PAT would probably have a higher success rate than going for 2.

I agree and i think it boils down to the fact that in order to be called the best i want to beat the best. There really isn't just as much satisfaction in taking down Jim Sorgi and the Colts or the Hefty Lefty and the Colts as there is in beating Manning (with his "aw shucks" face fully in tact) and the Colts. Yea, a win is a win and a championship is still valid but something inside of me tells me most NFL players want to beat Brady and the Pats, not Cassell and the Pats.

It's bad for business (MLB) bc of the way they allow their business to be run! It wouldn't hurt so much if the league was run as just that, a league versus putting so much on one team.

As for the NFL, ESPN surely puts a focus on marquee players and does go overboard in their reporting. Yet the NFL is a completely different animal and another team, other matchups will sell just the same. Perhaps not so much in Boston/Mass, but the NFL lives through big market teams going down much easier than leagues like MLB.

Buffalo and the NYJ are primed to make the division interesting, and to be honest, I'm even more interested now as I'm sure many NFL fans would agree.

The Yankees are MLBs most storied franchise the team you love or love to hate. Just like the Cowboys (or the Pats the past few years), just like the Celtics, or the Rangers, or Notre Dame etc Its also the market size. You would rather have the # 1 New York market and its 26 million people over Kansas City and its six thousand.

Come playoff time the NFL / Network would much rather sell add time based on the Tom Brady led Patriots playing the Payton Manning led Colts in the AFC Championship game i/o San Diego vs. Jacksonville.

The ironic thing here is that if that Pats lineman wasn't holding and grabbing that Chiefs player's helmet and pulling him to the ground he wouldn't have come in so low on Brady.

what it does though is set up favre and the jets for more potential success and if you thought the offseason favre coverage was bad wait until week 15+16 if they jets are in first or in wild card contention
