So I'm in New Orleans waiting for the game to start. Jesus Fucking Christ, I hate this city. It's full of commies. I shouldn't say more because I'm sure they've got this room bugged. But I'm on to them. They fucking know it. Them and their stooge Godell. Yeah, I know who you're working for, you slimy little fuck. You better fucking not be in the same room with me. I took out Mussolini with nothing but some dental floss. I know 18 different kinds of marshal arts. I'll destroy you. Like I destroyed that fuck Kiffin.
Where the fuck am I again? Oh yeah. Someone asked me if I'd take this Pacman Jones kid if the Cowboys get rid of him. Fuckin' A right I would. They say, "But Mr. Davis, he's trouble." Since when has a player being "trouble" been a problem for the Raiders? Shit, I can't tell you how many times I had to cover up for Madden after he killed some whore. He'd get all loaded and things would get out of hand, and next thing you know, I'm chopping up some dead hooker in some warehouse in Fresno. You're fuckin' A right I handled it myself. Trust no one. It pisses me off that I have to hire people at all. Shit, I should not only fire all these coaches that do nothing but give me lip and take my money, I should get rid of those fucking players too. Bunch of fuck ups. I should just play by myself. Maybe I'd get Shell to block for me or something. No, fuck him too. I don't need him.

It's because this defense fucking sucks.
And Matt Cassell is awful. He holds onto the ball long enough to check down to an 8th receiver, yet doesn't let it go.

their defense doesnt suck, their secondary sucks. im fairly certain even I could beat deltha o'neill in coverage. the line and LBs are still pretty solid, no worse then the rest of the league. you can see now how much losing Asante Samuel really hurt.
Cassell does in fact hold on to the ball for too long but really that just comes with learning. Remember how awful Eli Manning was at holding the ball when he first came to the NFL? now people can't get off his dick. Cassell just needs to continue to play more games in order to get better, unfortunately that probably won't happen as long as he's in New England after this season

Losing Samuel wouldn't have been that bad (he was amazingly overrated) if there was ANY sort of depth behind Hobbs. When you bring in someone that the Bengals cut from their defense, you're fucked.
And this team gets ZERO pressure on the QB. Which is really strange with studs like Wilfork, Seymour, Mayo and Thomas in there. I guess they constantly have to keep the LBs back in coverage because the secondary is that bad.
I really can't believe they're being beaten by a team with a 14yr old kicker.

yea he was over-rated, but he was sort of a rock out there. you could always count on him to be fairly solid. Hobbs isn't even that good, he's barely decent. everybody else pretty much blows.
and you hit the nail on the head, they're only sending four guys every play because Mayo and Thomas have to stay back. there's a ton of issues being exposed on this team this year and truth be told its on the defensive side. the offense will be back next season but if the team as a whole wants to stay competitive they MUST address defense in the offseason.
I don't know who woke up the Bengals, but that was the most impressive drive I've seen from them all season.
Can't believe that game is only 10-7 at the half.

Pittsburgh has been kind of sloppy offensively. Roethlisberger looks off, and Mewelde Moore is no Willie Parker.
Although, the Bengals' defense has been solid.
Cincinnatti's offense was garbage right up until the very end of the 2nd quarter. Chris Henry was a big catalyst. When they use all three wideouts, they seem to create some space for one of the three receivers.

its to mark the general area where the guy caught the ball, like on a kick off or punt so if there's a penalty on the play they know where to start from to count off the penalty yards

haha Raiders. This is the 2nd week in a row I've watched a coach called a TO right before a FG that missed, only to watch the kicker nail the 2nd one.
Also, in less than 2 minutes, Cable managed to call a sweep run that moved the Raiders out of FG range then call a TO that cost the Raiders the win.

How many times do I have to watch a kicker miss a last second field goal, only to be saved by the 'right before the kick' timeout, and then make the kick?

Can someone explain to me why Seattle was allowed to challenge a ball ruled down by contact, but actually a fumble, after the whistle.
Am I wrong that this was almost the same situation that San Diego got royally screwed on earlier this year when Ed Hocoli (sp) said it was a non reviewable play because of the whistle.

they changed the rule that if a play is called down, and a fumble has occured with a clear recovery, hten you can challenge cause they know who should have possesion if it is a fumble

Oh, all you son of a bitches think that ol' Al's lost it. You think that I don't know what the fuck I"m doing anymore. Let me tell you, fucksticks, I got more football knowledge in the stool in my Depends right now than in your whole fucking body. You want to pretend that the Raiders are not a force. That we're done. Everyone wants to believe that, because everyone's against the Raiders. But you can all fuck yourself.
Like when I drafted that Polack kid to be my kicker. Shit, I don't know his name, and I don't care. I usually just yell at him "Kick that fucking ball, you Polack fatass!" He might be the dumbest fucking guy I've ever met. Shit, I'm surprised he remembers to put his cock back in his pants after he pisses. And he sure does seem to love the drugs, but who cares. Everyone on my teams in the '70s was constantly fucked up. Shit, I remember me and Madden and some of the boys going down to Vegas to do some gambling and get some whores. Madden could still fly at that point, but I guess he dropped some bad acid before the flight or something, because halfway there, he looks out the window, looks scared shitless, and starts screaming "DRAGON! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" He rips his clothes off and starts running around bareass naked, yelling "GET ME A SWORD! WE HAVE TO FIGHT!" Shell and Upshaw and Stabler and some of the other guys grab him and try to calm him down, but that just makes him madder. "AL!" he screams at me. "THE DRAGONS ARE COMING!" And I'm trying to calm him down, telling him "It's OK, John, you just got some bad shit, just calm down, I'll put on some Allman Brothers, just relax." And he seems to calm down, so I tell Upshaw and Shell to let him go. Well, as soon as I do that, he screams "THE FUCKING DRAGONS ARE BACK!" and he runs to the emergency door, and before any of us can stop him, he's opened that fucking door. We barely hold him in as all the shit in the plane flies out, and we have to make an emergency landing in Fresno. That's why he's scared of flying. He never flew again.
What the fuck was I talking about? Oh, that game. I was glad to see that that hillbilly fuck Favre lost too. Everyone knows that if you're past your prime and have burned your bridges with your old team, you come to the Raiders. What the fuck was he thinking? The Jets? The same team that that dago fag Namath played for? Jesus, I hated that greaseball motherfucker.
But Fatass Polack sure showed his cracker ass.

yea it sucks, the Pats looked alright but really the Broncos are just fucking awful and im pretty sure a high school team could have put up 34 points on them tonight. The positive thing is at least the Pats took advantage of how shitty Dener is and didn't play down to their level.

WOW! That graphic is incredible.
Denver's D has only let an opposing QB's passer rating dip below 100 once this year. That 1 time it was still 83.
That is worse than the Vikes pass D for sure.

my roommate and I have a rule that we think the NFL should adopt. If you blow an extra point or kick a kickoff out of bounds, you are immediately cut. right there, in the middle of the game, you're given your pink slip by the coach and you have to leave the stadium.

i have no idea if it relates to the way announcers use "downhill" but some fields (especially turf) are in fact higher in the middle and slope towards the sidelines, so when you run a crossing route you can feel your speed pickup once you pass the middle of the field (laterally).
its for drainage iirc from college.

I always hear them say it when a runner runs straight up the middle, as opposed to a crossing route. I don't think I ever heard anyone do it before this year, but I hear it almost every game, now. I think it's the new "in" phrase. Kinda like how announcers started saying a player got "nicked" (when a player gets a minor injury that doesn't take him out of the game) a year or so ago.

So, I'm watching some old Daily Show clips on the show's website.
And I stumble across a clip of Beth Littleford from the Denver/Atlanta Super Bowl (don't ask me how...I just kept clicking on different random videos).
Anyway, she's interviewing all the players....and she starts on this bit towards the end of the piece about how football is gay and starts asking random players whether they're a top or a bottom.
And one of the players she walks up to is Esera Tuaolo.
And he gets this really uncomfortable look on his face, and then asks "...is this a trick question?"
And I started thinking...."Esera Tuaolo....that name sounds oddly familiar"

whoever does the al davis gimmick
bill simmons is ripping you off
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/081107
The scene: Al Davis' office on a Monday morning. It's pitch black.
(Someone knocks on the door.)
Al: "Come in. … DON'T TURN ON THE LIGHTS!"
(We see two minions awkwardly stumble in the dark and fumble around to find two chairs.)
Minion No. 1: "Al, I know we gave up a second-round pick for DeAngelo Hall, and I know we topped his next-highest offer by a good $20 million, but the coaches think he's a complete liability."
Minion No. 2: "He could kill our cap space even more than he already has if we don't waive him this week."
[+] EnlargeKirby Lee/NFL/Getty Images
Surgeon General's Warning: Do not stare directly at Al Davis. Do not think about Al Davis. Do not make any sudden movements when near Al Davis.
Al: "Cap space? What is cap space?"
Minion No 1: "We're allowed to spend only a certain amount of money every season."
Al: "What? This is an outrage! Get me Rozelle on the phone!"
Minion No. 2: "Al, bad news …"
Al: "And get Madden and Stabler up here, right now! I need to talk to them before I get my blood replaced at 11:30."
Minion No. 1: "Al …"
Al: "And bring me one of those Raiders jogging suits Jordache made me in 1979 -- I want to change!"
Minion No. 1: "Hold on, Al …"
Al: "Just do it! RIGHT NOW! I WILL RIP OFF YOUR FOREHEADS AND DRINK YOUR CEREBRAL FLUID! DO IT! GO! RIGHT NOW!"

That was quite possibly the most boneheaded move I've ever seen in my entire life.
It's a game of statistics. Making a 2 pt. conversion is a much lower probability than 50/50 in OT and getting a FG.

if their defense keeps playing like this then tennessee has a very good chance of going to 14-0, the jets being the biggest hurdle. they probably wont get that far because its just so rare, but its a reasonable thought.

normally yes but they were 1-7
its not like it was gonna cost them a playoff spot or the division

even if they get past the jets and go to 14-0 they have pittsburgh and indy those last 2 games
i dont see them getting past those 2, esp if indy needs the game to make the playoffs

yeah, i agree. one or maybe both of them will beat the titans if they get that far undefeated.
how does jacksonville match-up against them? that might actually be a tougher game than the jets since its a rivalry and the jets are a little overrated right now imo.

in years past pretty good, the last few seasons the jags were obviously much better but somethings wrong in jax and i cant really pinpoint it
they didnt have any major personnel losses, still have the same coaches, no major injuries i can think of
so they're just underperforming this year i guess

giants led the league in points scored 262

One or two penalties ago, they said it was at 17.
My favorite line:
1st announcer: There have been a lot of zebra meetings. And by zebras, I mean refs.
2nd announcer: Why don't you tell us why you call the refs zebras and make me look like even more of an idiot.

Agreed. I could care less of the outcome, but it appeared that everytime Arizona made a play, out came a flag. Stupid play calling by the Niners in the end.
On a side note, why in the hell is the Monday night game Cleveland/Buffalo when Dallas/Washington is in the same week?

yeah that was pretty fucked up, jamming him at the line and double teaming him all night, then they decide to give him an 8 yard buffer and single coverage on what could have been the final play of the game. crazy.
