1-0, but this type of effort will not beat any good or offensive minded teams
Things I don't want to see again
Offense:
Ward getting the inside hand off on 3rd and 1 in the red zone
Tight Ends not getting open for passes
Eli only scoring Rushing Touchdowns
Steve Smith and Amani Toomer being virtually invisible
Bradshaw not getting any touches at RB
FUCKING DELAY OF GAME PENALTIES
Defense:
Nothing, Love you ( that TD late in 1st half was Special Teams fault)
Aggie
09-05-2008, 08:01 AM
They had Bradshaw as "probable" on the injury list on the website for 9/3. Maybe they just didn't want to risk it.
On the same note, is Kiwi gonna be OK? Haven't heard anything about him yet.

Cops came to Plaxico's house
Totowa police responded to two domestic disturbance calls at Giants receiver Plaxico Burress's home the past few months, borough police Chief Robert Coyle confirmed. In both instances, Burress's wife, Tiffany, had phoned the police, reports show. Temporary restraining orders were obtained in each but were later dismissed in state court. It could not be determined whether the incidents had anything to do with Burress's suspension by the Giants today for the team's Oct. 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Pat Hanlon, a spokesman for the Giants, said the team will "not comment on a player's personal life." (NorthJersey.com)

Seubert, the left guard, was discussing remarks from defensive end Corey Williams of the Cleveland Browns, who said running back Brandon Jacobs could be physically intimidated.
I never picture Brandon as a physical running back anyway, Seubert said, kidding for effect, on Thursday after practice. He kind of likes to pitty-patter.

Giants interested in Tony Gonzalez?
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8666368/Report:-Chiefs-TE-Gonzalez-on-trade-block
Reports are that the Chiefs would take nothing less than a 2nd round pick, which means if the Giants do take him, it would basically be a Shockey for Gonzalez trade. The guy is 32, and never won a playoff game, so he obviously has a good attitude. He's also only missed one game in 11 years as a starter. I think Boss has potential, but he's not ready yet. Only problem is that Gonzalez is set to make $11 mil this season.

as soon as i saw the crawl saying he was interested in a trade i wondered if the giants would make a play
trade wise is cool, as you said basically a shockey for gonzalez but the price tag is too high and coughlins offense isn't TE focused and i'd hate for them to pay 11 mil for him to just sit in and block
plus we have enough recievers and backs to get the ball to

I don't understand why they just didn't stick with the run instead of Eli constantly tossing it downfield. They were consistently beating the blitz with the run, and went they went with the pass, Eli was always pressured.
Defensively they were pretty shitty, no pressure, bad coverage, only positive was the blitzes forcing false starts. First game I got to see this year, I think I'm a jinx.

They should try the reverse of what they're doing now. Start Bradshaw, alternate him with Ward, then pound the ball in the 2nd half with Jacobs after everyone's tired of chasing those 2 around.

Is anybody surprised by this since the Rev. Al hasnt been in the news lately
An outraged Rev. Al Sharpton is calling for the New York Post to take immediate action to address a column in Monday's editions that he called "blatant racism" and a "media lynching." Post columnist Steve Serby began his column in Monday's editions with "Good for Tom Coughlin. Good for Coughlin for tightening the noose around Plaxico Burress." Burress has been fined and benched by the Giants for infractions including tardiness and missing practices. On Saturday, the wide receiver skipped a treatment for his neck, and was benched during the first quarter of the Giants' win in Pittsburgh Sunday. In criticizing Burress, Serby used a racially loaded and offensive term, Sharpton told the Daily News. "To make such a blatant racist statement about an African-American football player with a neck injury is completely unacceptable," Sharpton said. "Clearly, the racial connotation is very disturbing. ... This is the verbal reflection of a hanging noose." Sharpton said he was willing to consider that Serby did not intend to make a racially loaded statement. But the impact of the columnist's words troubled Sharpton regardless of the intent. I cant fucking stand people who make this argument. It's such a non-sports fan/bitch thing to complain about. If you are a fan of a team, you live and die with them. It's also ALOT easier to call refer to a team as "we" or "us" instead of "The Giants" everytime.
That being said, these three games (Pitt,Dallas,Philly) should set the tempo for the rest of the season. Pittsburgh was the first test of the year and we just got out of there with a W. Dallas is beat up, but always tough, their D is a good mix of speed and power, I still expect to be able to run the ball on them though. Anytime we have to go into Philly its a war zone. I wonder if the Phillies' impending WS victory will have an effect on the Eagles and/or the crowd.

Cleveland's FAR from a good football team.
That's the point.
The Giants can only play who's on the schedule, but they've only really had two kind of tough games so far.
The most impressive win might still be the Week 1 win over Washington.
If they beat the Eagles in Philadelphia next week, then I think you can start to say with certainty that it's going to be tough for anyone to touch the Giants this year.

my point is in the past the giants would always seem to blow games against the teams they should have beaten. in a way it was a good for them to lose to the browns, it made them refocus. Going 7-1 is still a hard thing to do, even if they weren't playing the best the league has to offer.

You are absolutely correct on that and Madden was yammering about it like an idiot. Someone in the NBC truck fucked up, the line of scrimmage was a yard further than where they set the red line. So what do you think about next year? Toomer will probably retire, and I can't see them keeping Plax. They've had some decent luck in drafting receivers lately, but I think they need a veteran in there. trying to find the contract details and so far all i got is this
The five-year deal is worth $35 million, but it is heavily front-loaded with $11 million guaranteed to the 31-year-old Burress this season

Can they clinch the East this weekend? A win would put them 3 games ahead of Dallas with 3 to go. Even if they lose the final three, and Dallas wins out, NY would have a better division record.... That's the second tiebreaker, right?

F Plaxico, the idiot. And dragging Antonio into it was the worst part. He's gotta go. :wallbash:
Yes, Reynolds. From what I understand if they win this week they clinch homefield and a bye...and bury the Eagles season with it.

Awww, sorry "we" had to beat you KO.
Thank you for rooting against the Boys though, you're the bestest. I still think they may not even get in the playoffs but we'll see. My sig and avatar depend on it!

Bloomberg is being a dick about this whole thing. Plax is not a criminal with a loaded gun going out to shoot people.
He's just an idiot who shot himself. I think he learned his lesson. I still want him off the team but don't think he deserves 3 1/2 years.

He took an unlicensed concealed loaded weapon into a crowded public place. Regardless of intent, and add to it the shenanigans that followed, he absolutely deserves jail time.
Whatever is mandatory.

if we werent giants fans we would all think this way
its the fandom of the team and possible 2nd championship that clouds our vision
if we can win it again w/o him then lock his as up
but if we lose b/c we don have him that'll suck ass
luckily this giants team is alot like the late 90's yanks
a great team with very little to no superstars

Yea,Eli tends to look more towards plax when he is there, and the Offense stalls.

Well the G men haven't looked this good since the late 80's/Very Early 90's. In fact this is the most prolific offense I have EVER seen from them.
Defense is tight and making very few mistakes.
Special teams, although not STELLAR, is still playing smart ball.
Honestly, I don't see one team being able to beat us. Every time one steps up with a good record or supposedly great run defense or whatnot...we show them up.
I haven't seen them play DOWN to their opponant since Cleavland.
Am I seeing a repeat Giants Super Bowl Champs? God I hope so!
Oh yes...I am going to my 4th game this week. I hope I can see a 12-1 Giants team by the end of the game.
Would be nice to wrap up the east this quickly.

only glaring weakness is fucking carney cant reach the fucking 10 yd line let alone get a touchbacks on his kickoffs
seems like every kickoff the other team starts at the 30-40 yd line

True. And I will also admit I hate how the reverse play seems to work TOO well. I have seen it used about 5-6 times against our defense and every time they gain 15-20 yards on that damn play!
Only time will tell if Plax-i-DOH!'s screw up will mess up the Giants.

i say no
they'll use it as motivation like last year when shockey went down
plus i think without plax there he wont feel the need to force throws plax way like he did with shockey
when he doesnt have the diva guy to worry about he looks around the field more instead of having tunnel vision, spreads the ball around more , and we have enough wr's to get by

That is mostly because our D (line especially) is fast and over pursues the ball carrier and they bust off a nice gain. I'll take getting beat on reverses as long as we pressure the QB and keep stuffing guys in the backfield.

yeh but a lot of times the D recovers and can hold to little to moderate gains and they half ass tackle which gives them more yards
