I just watched a video of 16 horsepower from '96 called Black Soul Choir. Unique band; the lead instrument was banjo, and the bass player used a stand-up. I really liked the song, and now am trying to find something more recent.

That's definitely their signature song. The last album they recorded, Folklore, was a lot slower and eerier, than previous stuff, but it worked beautifully.
All of it is good if you like americana drenched in revival-tent venom and Faulkner-esque southern gothic.
