Casino is a great movie, but it suffers because no matter how hard you try not to you can't help but compare it to Goodfellas.

And Casino is no Goodfellas.

And Casino is no Goodfellas.QFT. I love them both, but Goodfellas trumps Casino.

Casino felt like Goodfellas part deux. but lacked something. Now that time has passed it is def. an amazing movie .Sharon Stone's best role ever.

Scorsese seems to be trying way too hard in Casino. All that music, all those camera tricks, everyone playing their role turned up to 11. Which is not to say that it's a bad film, it's just that Goodfellas has a naturalistic feel that Casino lacks.

I actually might prefer Casino to Goodfellas. I just don't enjoy the really coked out last act and Lorraine Bracco is such a shrew.

The Godfather makes both of these movies look like Weekend at Party Pier.

to tell you the truth, awhile ago I made a list where I ranked all of Martin Scorsese movies, and "Casino" was waaaaaaay down on the list. I think it was in the bottom 5. I put it lower than "The Departed"

I just feel that "Casino" relies way too much on voice over narration. In "Goodfellas" it worked because it complimented the plot and the narration was a character in its own. In "Casino" I felt it was too much, I think it would've been more effective if they just let some scenes play out without the constant over-explanation

Same here as well. I do prefer Casino over Goodfellas.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Goodfellas. I just thought Casino was amazing.

What about Raging Bull? Was it a better movie than Casino? Yes.

"Freak You, Sam Rothstein! Freak You!"

"Oh so what? Who knew you in the parking lot?"

While i think Goodfellas is the better of the two films but i would say that i end up watching Casino more. I think only because there are a lot more arches in the storyline and there's better character development.

With Goodfellas it's just kind of like i was a boy, now im a man. I was banging Karen now i'm banging the girl with the mustache and the chick from Empire Records, jail time, drug deals bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh Tommy is dead and im in hiding.

Ha!!! I was watching it last night, too. I almost decided not to, because of the edits, but there wasn't anything else on, and it's a good one to have on when you're doing other stuff.

And Casino is no Goodfellas.

But it's no "Dunston Checks In", either.
