Throughout life we get stuck in ruts where we want to branch out and try new things, but because we get scared of change we dont try something new. My challenge to my esteemed fellow posters is to make/try a food that you have never made/tried before. Get bold, buy a spice that you will never use again and suprise yourself. Post the results here good or bad. Get out there and make something for yourselves.

This is a frightening concept but I think I can do it..I absolutely hate all seafood and all condiments, so in the spirit of your challenge I think I'll have a tunafish with mayo (yuck on both accounts) sandwich..Will that satisfy thechallenge?

I'm gonna grill some fish. I've never done it and have been wanting to. I did scallops earlier this week and they came out perfect.

If you don't like seafood, don't start with one of the stronger-tasting fish like tuna. Get yourself a nice piece of halibut.

i'm gonna cook hamburg style steak and "hot dog" sausage (both served on toasted, appropriately shaped buns).

So you have "a" beer? You're better than this.

I switched from fish to pork tenderloin, also something I've never done. Sides are baked potato and caesar salad.

I commend you on trying kielbasa. If you want the yellow rice, GO FOR IT!!!
BUT, might I suggest pierogies? They're basically dumplings filled with potato and cheese, potato and sauerkraut, potato and something...
Kielbasa is AWESOME with mustard and horseradish. Pierogies are great with sour cream.
Apple sauce pulls the WHOLE thing together.

The pork tenderloin was a little overcooked but it was still damn tasty!

I cooked ribs and black eyed peas. I don't have a grill, but I have a four hour oven method that actually works very well. Makes for melt in your mouth ribs every time! Stupid me forgot to thaw the yeast rolls, though. I'm going to cook them for the leftovers tomorrow.

I made a bitchin' fennel bulb and yellow carrot soup last night. The only shitty thing was not being able to find Pernod at the store for it.

Instead of my normal $2.50 frozen Tony's pizza, I will be having a $5.50 Freschetta frozen pizza. Class personified.

We had cheesesteaks with onions and sides of broccoli slaw and oven fries.
And I didn't screw it up. Although it was WAAAAY too much food for two people.

I'm going to the inlaws on the Jersey Shore and ignoring everyone with a cigar near a peaceful lagoon.
I'm going to gorge myself on London Broil, wings, pot roast, sausage and peppers and at least 4 rolls from Norf Jersey (the source of all bread)
EDIT:
Man that was great.
