View Full Version : Is there any band that you prefer their "Lame" stuff?

This is something I've been thinking about lately
Every few months I start listening to a lot of "Butthole Surfers" stuff. With them, I LOVE their more "POP-y" stuff. I love Gibby Haynes vocals..i just love it. I think their "Electric Larryland" album is so good (thats the album with "Pepper" on it).
Most hardcore "Butthole Surfer" fans despise it. They think its them "Selling out". Most hardcore "Butthole Surfer" fans love the "Locust Abortion Technician Album" and that is usually considered their best..but that album does nothing for me. I am a "Lame" Butthole Surfer fan, but I love that stuff
I think every band has their "Lame" period. Anyone out their has a band that their stuff considered "uncool and unhip" by their fanbase is their peak? I think its gotta happen often

I think Amorica is The Black Crowes best album ... I don't know too many hardcores, but I've never heard anyone else agree with me.

It is ... and I think it's brilliant. I don't know if anyone would call it lame, so I am not sure if it totally applies here ... but it's definitely not considered a favorite by many that I know of.

yeah..thats what im going for with my quotation "lame"...something that the fans think is pretty weak or not the album to represent the band or artist...but its the personal favorite of said messageboard poster
Who knows, maybe we'll find a user that prefers "Today" metallica

its true...my hits were on FBA...i'll admit it. I once started a thread about "who was hotter - Melissa Joan Hart or Tiffany Amber Theissen"...it was a thing of beauty. Hopefully, you fine folks at RF.net can accept an old dog who is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past his prime

I've racked my brain trying to come up with some artists that fit this category, and I just can't. But while I do like Locust, I also am a fan of the so-called sellout Buttholes albums.
So I'll go a slightly different, but similar, direction here. Here's a handful of albums that "real" fans of these artists aren't supposed to like.
Soul Asylum, Grave Dancer's Union
REM, Around the Sun
Replacements, All Shook Down
Dylan, Empire Burlesque
Neil Young, Everybody's Rockin
Lou Reed, New Sensatons
Guided By Voices, Do the Collapse
Aerosmith, Draw the Line

i seem to always agree with Marc w a C. And to me, it does sound like the stupidest thread ever...i agree 100 percent. But it ended up 50/50 and there were so many people saying "kelly kapowski wasn't hot" (what the FUCK) and so many people proclaiming the hotness of Melissa Joan Hart from the highest mountain tops. It baffled me too.

I really like Iggy Pop's "Party" album that hardcore Iggy fans don't like because there are a lot of slow songs on it.

Some people think that John Lee Hooker's collaborations with the band Canned Heat were lame, but I like most of what they did.
