***WARNING: I re-read this after posting, and it's clear in this text that I've had a few drinks. However, I do think, even in retrospect, that my observation is worth posting. Maybe.***

I literally feel more at peace if I have a Ron and Fez episode under my belt in a stressful day.

Ron is a fucking almost monk-like street-level guy, a regular person who is aware of the rhythms of culture and the flaws of our world but isn't BURDENED by them. He is the ideal man in the world of modern men in that he is ready to contend without feeling like he is sacrificing any philosophical ideals. This is to an extent a character, I think, because no man is without his stumbling points and weak moments. The point though, is this is strength and wisdom and peace.

Fez is a bumbling, mumbling, anxious, self-conscious mess. Someone so intimidated and insecure that he can't even palpate his own sexual preference (which, let's face it, is obviously a nice fucking fat meat log). He is the opposite of Ron; someone with no direction to improvement, no propensity for enjoying life, and no strength to stand up in the face of mortality. Fez is the weakness, the short sightedness, and the internal war.

strength and wisdom and peace/ weakness and short sightedness and internal war

Yin/Yang.

Ron and Fez represents some secretly ingenius balance. An allegory for the human consciousness inside of an allegory for the human consciousness.

And here we all are.

Ghosts in the machine.

The Grind used to bother me a lot, but then I remembered that the show was cancelled in 1997, and Eric Nies was no longer on tv.

Made me feel so much better.

Ron and Fez Shows are like Heroin for me.
I crave the show to be on. I look at the clock on my dashboard if Im driving awaiting that 12:00. I get itchy when its not on and Ihave exhausted all the prerecorded stuff on my Helix and have been through the File Library
However it is not always cathartic as you say. Sometimes it pisses me off .Sometimes its like a school assignmet(go download some new music,Go rent or watch or rewatch a movie etc) Sometimes I have to go change my shirt because I have spit coffee all over it from laughing out loud. Other times I'm actually itchy to change the channel from monotony but don't dare because I would miss something. OFTEN its typing time as I contribute(or what I consider cotributing) here on .net.

The Greatest...... thing......... Going........... TODAY!!!!! WOOOOOO yes

Cathartic mmm

:blink:I was a 3 stooges fan,so alpha males like Moe Howard(wise guy) and the Curly dynamic were always my game. It's Parent/child style of humor.Ron seems like Moe to me and Fez like Curly.Simlarly Anthony Cumia owes Groucho Marx, and Opie seems like Dennis the Menace(joking). That would make Jim Norton the "tasmanian Devil" of comedy. Ron represents the STRESS of situations and FEZ the RELEASE or freedom from reality/worry /cares,when paradoxically Fez is the uptight one and Ron relatively bullishly stable. I realize my own personal quirks hold no water-on -the -brain for most people, but I compare them to my faves from long ago, mostly that I've outgrown. The LIVE :thumbup:experience is far better :clap:and instant feedback the icing on the cake, having even limited fan access. Let me repeat for newer fans that I have previously made myself a pest to both O&A  and R&F :devil2: shows by sending too much junk in the form of feedback, ideas ,pics, concepts, comment drivel. It's painful to read back some of the trash email I've sent before and have been warned off sending by Ron N Jimmy several times. It's hard to know when to quit or as Jimmy puts it:down: "getting greedy" (going for the laughs too much vs. know limits/quit while ahead and take the laugh & move on). http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a221/jlehane3/RonFezMayberryAuntBea13k.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a221/jlehane3/BigCHIPSwonderboyHarry.jpg

You red-highlighted the part about it being :happy:painful to read back over some of the trash:flush: emails I've sent to both shows. Maybe I can elaborate. I'm never a :nono:super-perfectionist,and my typing is proof enough. But when I feel the jokes :wacko:are all :wallbash:duds that day...5 or 10,then I've wasted my time, theirs and made myself look like a hack in the process. It would be like uncrossing your  legs and a rodent falls out and runs away. :) http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a221/jlehane3/BigJerry_palms.jpg

Ron as an everyman, not burdened by the insanities of the world ?

I THINK HE'S JUST ABLE TO PLAY NICE WITH FAGS !

(and i'm looking at you earl)

THE NEED FOR THE SHOW ?
When Ron & Fez were taken off the air in NYC a few years back
and there was NO XM R&F...
I literally went thru withdrawal... and it affected my quality of life
for a long, long time...

THEY MAKE MY DAY ALOT MORE BEAR-ABLE...
and i have to hear every word...

They do something that is rare, espec. on radio...
THEY ENTERTAIN !!!
and they care about the show and the fans...
(extra weekend shows? taped shows for ummasked days? superbowl show?
who else is making the effort.?.. they love to hang-out & perform)

I think one thing that everyone on this board has in common is that Ron and Fez make us laugh, make us feel good and make us happy. I always throw on a bit I found on the file library during my morning commute and it helps.

Christ, Brother.

It wasn't meant as an "attack"...but sometime's it's tiring to read through your "emoticon-laden" rants.

Say what you want...and I still won't be able to decode it.

I like your opinion (and the pics of you playing gay-tar).

However, I know you're a writer, and I simply wish you would do so without all the shit in between.

If you've got something to say, why it make it so fucking hard to read it?!

Oh yeah, there's a rat in my cunt.

I call him Jay.

It's so nice to get engrossed in bits and rhetorical questions- I swear it makes me more productive, smarter, and more attractive to the opposite sex to listen to R+F on the daily.

I pose the following, that RandF unite generations, bridge gaps, hold us together.

OK, more specifically, my son and I have listened to Ron and Fez for some time now. It is the source of many laughs, conversations, debates... and a real connection for us, a bond between us that continues to unite us even as he moves away to college.

(besides being comic genius)

and for that, I say - God Bless Bennington and Whatley!

Hahaha. This would make a good R+F t-shirt slogan. I picture a 1950s miracle tonic type ad.

Also to someone above who remarked on the effort of the show and the fact that they care: YES! This is I think the essence of what appeals to me so much about the show. I mean let's face it, it's not always radio gold, sometimes its the tenth show in a row about Fez being afraid of intimacy or losing intimacy or whatever the fuck psychobabble is in his head.

But the core of the show and what unites everyone is a genuine EXCITEMENT to be on the radio and to have fans and to be doing something creative and expressive with everyone involved. That excitement is contagious man, it hits me in a place that not much other entertainment hits me. I think that's why this show has such a core dedicated fanbase, and why we all feel such a NEED to listen. We just can't get it anywhere else.

Goodnight buddies!

If there is one common thread in all of the R+F shows, it's an open indulgence in what it is to be human, which inherently crosses all manmade boundaries and social groups.

The show is simultaneously ponderous, contradictory, absurd, and hilarious. Just like life.
