But in T:2 they gave the date that Skynet gained sentience and took over as August 29, 1997. That's 11 years ago. :unsure:

In T:3 they established the date as July 24, 2004, and if you use the Sarah Connor Chronicles as your backup, it is supposed to occur sometime in 2011. Here is a pretty solid rundown (http://terminator.wikia.com/wiki/Skynet).
