The literal title of a Pryor album I ran across in a recent freecycle LP windfall I've just received.

Included was the 1974 Pryor title. Dark Side of the Moon and Welcome to the Machine. Myriad Rush albums, James Taylor, Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, Deep Purple Made in Japan... Couldn't believe it.

I finally listened to the Pryor last night. Really funny - you can see why Norton and so many others speak of him so highly. Honestly, I haven't ever sat and listened to an entire produced piece by him. I might be wrong, but I think a lot of the white people do this and black people do it a little differently stuff comes from him.

I love his white person voice - really funny.

If you're just listening to that album NOW, you are no longer my favorite poster.

Sweet! Are the albums in good shape? I'd love to be on the receiving end of a bunch of LP's. I don't have my old collection anymore.

They run the range of the possible conditions... some are unsalvagable - a few. Some - like best of Elton John - I'll get half the tracks.

I'm happy to report that the Floyd albums are almost perfect - amazing.

There's a good deal of mold going on in there - I really have to set aside a day and start cleaning and repackaging a lot of them.

There's quite a bit of Babs Streisand in the package too

Oh and the 45 of the original Ghostbusters theme.

That probably explains the good condition of the Pink Floyd albums.

I was thinking about this a little more - it seems to me Pryor was in a decline when I was first being introduced to comedy. Among my friends - the lines to know came from another black comic - who, for us, was truly the be all end all of comedy at the time.

You were the funniest guy in the neighborhood if you could deliver the following...
"what a bahhgan!"
"now that's a fiah!!"
"this is my house, if you don like it, then geh the fugh out!"
and a fat black lady bouncing down the stairs ... "oh, lawd and baby jesus"

I remember thinking - this guy invented funny. We were that in awe.

20 something odd years later and "Raw" still makes me laugh the whole way through.

Truth. And Eddie always talked up Pryor out of respect. I don't think Pryor's albums ever really declined...he just kind of faded away all of a sudden as he got sick.
