I gotta say, so far I'm underwhelmed with the 4th (5th if you count MKFR) album. I've never been the worlds biggest Slipknot fan, but I'm definetly a fan. For an album that was hyped as being "Their most brutal yet" there isn't a song on here that is even close to as heavy as 4-5 songs off each of the preceeding albums. It's like someone slipped a Stone Sour CD into my Slipknot case.
Guess I can't be too picky given the band I'm listening to.
Best song on the album: Sulfur then Vendetta.

I feel this album is much harder than the last album. It was the first thing I noticed about it was how hard the first couple songs were.

I will say going back and listening to the first few songs they are pretty heavy. A lot of the songs are a little more thrash metal and have that Slipknotesque timestamp to them... I was like this with Vol 3 too, maybe I just need to listen for a while before I whine.

I'm enjoying it. I saw them two weeks ago and they were amazing. They only played "Psychosocial" off the new album, but it was great. It still remains my favorite song (which irritates me slightly). This Cold Black is a great song. Grematia is also great.
I was on Youtube, and they had Vermillion II as a bonus track. Not great.

I feel this album is showcasing what I love the most about Slipknot. I really love really heavy metal, only I hate the screaming, for the most part. Slipknot has always had a lot of songs that were really heavy, only with someone actually singing and not barking.

Really? I love the Bloodstone mix.
My new Number 1 is Wherein Lies Continue

Off of this point, I want to say, the All Hope is Gone single is NOT one that I enjoy. There is WAY too much going on in that song.

I've been digging the album. Love Butcher's Hook.

I listened to the first Roadrunner album and loved it. I seem to remember playing it for my friend as we watched Columbine unfold. Could it have been that long ago?
Anyway, I went on their fansites a few months ago and was disgusted to find an army of sheep bragging about which 80 dollar masks they owned. Then I saw the official fan club that they charge fans to be members of. Exclusive site content and a patch. What assholes. I don't know why this bugs me.

Yeah, when I saw em' live recently, I was really bothered by the fans.
I showed up in gym shorts and a tee shirt with sandals on. So did the rest of my friends. A ton of people wore the full Slipknot jumpsuits and masks, and I was like "IT'S 90 FUCKING DEGREES OUT. ARE YOU INSANE???"
As far as the album goes, Wherein Lies Continue is probably my favorite. I really like Snuff (que Slipknot fans "IT'S A SLIPKNOT ALBUM, NOT A STONE SOUR ALBUM") It's slow, but a really great song.

Went to my first Slipknot concert tonight. We bought tickets because they were playing with Coheed and we really wanted to see Coheed again. Unfortunately, we missed Coheed.
But holy shit, what a fucking show. Slipknot fucking RULES live. They've moved onto my "cannot miss" list of bands to see live. It was absolutely fantastic.
